Should I prune?

2nd week of flower, 4 plants in 5gal pots, 4x4 space, 1 600w hps. My plants have gotten very bushy and are growing in to each other quite a bit. The leaves closest to the pot under the canopy droop a lot and there is a lot of very spindly growth which seems very weak. Wondering if it's OK or maybe even benificial to prune away some of this growth at the base of the plant plus it would make watering so much easier.
Thanks

Prune? How about just plucking your largest old shade leaves down low first? Even some of the old lower branches with those popcorn buds on them. But the metabolic demand by those parts is already low at this point. If you aren't concerned about light penetration I wouldn't worry about the drooping. If they are really droopy 2 hours after lights off that is another thing.

You should prune, pruning those lower leaves that aren't getting much light will take the energy off what would be the little popcorn bottom buds and direct it to the colas giving you better denser main buds. EXCEPT your already in flowering and doing any nutes or pruning in flowering can cause a lot of trauma so for now just leave them be, maybe next grow
