I have alot of small branches that i feel will not make it to the canopy of my grow. should i remove them to allow plant to invest more energy towards larger colas at canopy level?

Like the OP, I am somewhat confused by the contradictory information out there about whether or not to cut this branch or that branch. I'm guessing this is what he wanted to know, rather than the technical term for doing it.

Some say don't cut any fan leaves they power the plant, others say cut off any that are looking sickly underneath the canopy.

Any seasoned advice on what the craic is?

I think OP has the right idea. He's just looking for a little guidance. So go ahead and remove the little unproductive shoots that won't produce colas. If you go overboard and prune away a little too much let the palnt veg longer. The buds will be a little bigger then. If in doubt post a pic I'll walk you through it.

Don't have anywhere to put clones but I may practice cloning with them. If I trim anything it will be the small stuff In the interior. We'll see I'm about to yank out some males as soon as light comes on, I'll post a pic of what I'm talking about trimming off.

Chop all the small stems man they will produce popcorn size buds or try to train your plant so the lower branches get 100% light u wont know whats gonna hit the top till u put 12/12 u could also top the plant and most of ur stems will think there the main cola do this when u start to flower if u bend a vertical branch so its horizontal before u flower all the nodes will grow upwards hope ive help and not confused u

Yeah I FIMMed all of them and after removing 5 males today I have a lot more room for the remaining plants. I am not going to trim anything now that I have space for them to feel out now. Thanks for the info guys! Like I said i FIMed and have a lot of potential cola sites. Nice pic of topped vs. natural
