Should I replant lower in pot or simply transplant?

Ok guys. Been reading some of your threads and I need some opinions. This black rhino seems to be stretching out already. Its about 4-5 days old and has been under a 1000w triple chip LED light from Sunraise. The manual says to keep the lights at at 40 to 44 incches for seedlings then lower them when as you go when they have more leaves, the final at about 24 inches. Ive got mine set at about 36" roughly and it seems to me like shes trying to stretch. Should i transplant to bigger pot and burry up close to its first leaves or should i do what you do for lanky, long stems and re-burry the plant in the same pot by removing it first and then burry it lower and then lower light? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Hopefully someone else is using led lights aswell and has done this before.

That looks like normal seedling stretch to me ... nothing out of the ordinary. Just leave it and let it do it's thing for a few more days. Your fan leaves have not started quite yet but should be up in a few more days. You'll see how the first few fan leaves will start to grow and you can slowly lower the light. That unit only consumes 165 true wall watts (why they even affixed the 1000w label to it was beyond me ... ) so you could probably lower it a little bit more than the manual claims once the first fans are out.

I presume you are using both VEG and BLOOM switches?

Im currently using Veg at the moment then once i flip I will use Veg and Bloom. Thanks alot. All wait a couple days and see what happens. All slowly lower and put my hand under and check temps.

LED's don't pump out much heat so don't worry too much about the ambient temperatures below the lights. As long as you have good air exchange and heat venting, you should be good for temps.

Use both VEG and BLOOM over the entire grow cycle. I have them both going from start to finish. Once the first fans open, you could flip both switches on, drop the light to 24" and see how they do. That should help to reduce any large spaces between the nodes.

Keep the veg setting until around 3 weeks, them you can pump up the volume.
Do not transplant until 3 weeks into your final pot (minimum 3 gallon).
Your plant looks good, just keep moist and water with a lite amount of grow nutes for the 1st 2 weeks or so, and then at around 3 weeks you can increase.

Hi F4L,
My experience had been that the light color temp is just as important as light intensity. So I'd just use the veg switch too till it's more established...like Jimdamick suggested.

Thanks guys. Nice to know im on the right track and have been doing things right. :hump: Ive got 5gallon fabric pots for transplanting in and once I flip from 18-6 to 12-12 all use both veg and bloom. Ive alos been using Iguana Organic grow neuts for veg. Ive been using as directed on the bottle for seedlings. And again once I flip I will be using Iguana Organic Bloom. Your bean looks normal to me, wait for Fan leaves to appear.
Not sure about the whole LED business, but, as far as I know, the don’t emit much heat...

I just started my first indoor adventure, but, from having grown outdoors for a while now, remember that these plants are called weed for a reason; they are quite forgiving; browse around on RIU. Almost all questions are answered...seek and you shall find ;-)
