Should I seperate plants?

Hi guys, First grow noob here.

I have 9 lowryder#2 plants under a 400w HPS. They are 1 month old and starting to grow into each other a little. The pots are all touching.

Is it wise to seperate them and give them all their own space? Or is some crowding acceptable? I would be concerned that the outer plants might not get enough light if moved to the edge of the lighting area.

I am growing in a 1m x 1m area btw, is 400w enough to cover that fully?

400w should be plenty.

I've read a few things on this so it could be right or wrong. If the leaves start overlapping one another then there is not enough room and thus they will compete for light.

Make sure you lin with mylar so you're not wasting any light

Ideally you want 3 feet apart but because 1m = 3.2. I guess it depends on the type of strain. =/

9 inch growth spreads out 5 inches.
