should I switch to HPS?

I use a 250 CFL with a E40 connection, I have two Kandy Kush plants going into flowering and I was wondering if anyone can convince me to switch to HPS using the same reflector.

Also, with CFL the tent gets really warm so .... with HPS will I need any additional things to keep temps down?

If going hps I would not use the same reflector idk but to me I don't think it can handle the heat from a 400 hps jmo.

But that said I would go hps or just add more cfls to your current 1. And yes you would need maybe a additional fan or some ducting to keep the hps cool.

Thanks, I was considering a cooltube, but need to do some research first.

In a month, how much more money will it cost to run a HPS compared to CFL?

No hps blows. Go cmh. Philips all start 330 with a 400w mh mag ballast. That bulb is red heavy. 2 of those will match a 1000w in yield but cmh will produce much better quality. The bulbs are protected coated. Which means they are rated for open hood, no glass. Lower temps than a 250w hps too.

Cool tubes are bad. When cooling it cools the bulb down to much. Lowering operating temp and decreases spectral output by 10% - 15%

If you can afford it led or induction is the best way to go. The great thing about cmh. Its awesome for morphology. It has wide spectrun that hits all the peaks that hps lacks and more. Making all pigments absorb the wavelengths they use. None going dormant.

Depends on what wattage you use and what you get charged on your bill

But if you use 400 actual watts of cfl then its the same as using 400 actual watts of hps catch my drift?

I would definately look into a cooltube if you can get it because you can bring the light closer to the plant at the same time elimainate all the heat caused from the bulb.
