Should i trim lower branchs?

I have a 13ft plant that is real thin in my opinion and i was wondering if i was to trim off the lower branches? They do have bud on them but not much. Plant was born april 2nd and put in the ground at 16 inches mid May. It doesnt even look like its close to harvest because all buds are small but there is a ton of them.
Any help to thicken up my plant and buds would be helpful.
