I finally found a mushroom that grows in my area and is in season right now. Going hunting tomorrow. This is the type

Blue-Foot Psilocybe
Psilocybe caerulipes (Pk.) Sacc.
Strophariaceae, Agaricales


DescriptionBrownish, knobbed cap, fading to yellow, with brown gills; whitishstalk bluish at base; on decayed wood. Cap3/8" - 1 3/8" (1-3.5 cm) wide; conical to convex with incurved margin,becoming flat or broadly knobbed; sticky, becoming dry, smooth;watery-cinnamon to yellowish; bruising greenish or bluish, sometimesslowly. Gillsattached, close to crowded, narrow; brownish to rust-cinnamon. Stalk1 1/4" - 2 3/8" (3-6 cm) long, 1/16" - 1/8" (1.5-3 mm) thick,enlarging to base; whitish, staining greenish-blue. Excited I know an excellent spot where I have spotted many different types of mushrooms.

Any tips?

Make sure you sporeprint and make sure it bruises blue.
Also before you munch them down, make sure you are 100% positive they are the correct mushrooms.
Mushroom hunting is tricky because there are so many look-a-likes that are 100% toxic.

yea be careful with what you eat but best of luck on hunting. Ide also suggest maybe making a shroomery account and post pics of whatever you find. they would prob know more then us.

I take it your on the east coast of the u.s? Would you not look for liberty caps or cyans? These types are more common compared to the blue foot which is supposedly quite rare. Also looking at the picture they could easly be mistaken for galerina's which some types are highly toxic.

Its liberity cap season over here at the moment and were geting loads!:)
