Silicone toxicity for roots?

I checked the reservoir earlier today and one of the silicone seals in a tub has broken up and the silicone is floating all over the place, it's white and brittle which suggests it hadn't bonded properly when i added the water.
I'm growing DWC and the roots are just beginning to touch the water this morning, i'm wondering; is the silicone toxic for them?

you'd better play it safe, and assume it's bad for them.
I'm not sure how much silicone breaks down in your nutrient solution.
