Simple Soil That Worked For My First & Future Grows

Just finished jarring for the cure and I wanted to pass along something that worked for me. I'll say it right off; there's a million different ways to grow herb and almost all of them will work within certain parameters. That's why there's seemingly so many different opinions and ideas when it comes to growing. Success for one grower becomes a mantra for the grower and why shouldn't it. After all you harvested some great bud! Anyhow I found as a noob early on that If I put everything the plant will need into the soil Before I start then the plant will feed itself when and how it wants to. No freaking when I see the odd yellow leaf. Most importantly having all that free time allowed me to learn how to properly water a weed plant lol.

I should add: I forgot to include the amount of molasses I use. 1/4 cup blackstrap molasses for 5 gallons of soil. Mix the molasses with warm water and sprinkle and then mix that into the soil.
Watering: I use 1 tbsp of molasses per gallon, per watering.

Interesting. I also use ffof , however start seeds in hf. I've heard so many mixed things about adding lime to ocean forest.

It is my own recipe based on a few others. For my first grow I used just FFOF, nothing else, just kelp and molasses. What I found with FFOF was that it has everything your plant needs right up until it's time to go into flower. I was using about 30% perlite in the ffof so the drainage was very good. It was as if the soil was somewhat depleted two weeks into flower. I've heard many different views on ffof as well. I tried this method because it's too hard to know if problems that other growers apparently had with this medium were caused by the soil or the grower. The ingredients on the bag are very straight forward. I also start my seeds in very basic easy to drain potting soil that has no added nutrients. With this recipe I'm just trying to ensure a slow steady supply of Npk during veg. The slow release amendments should start boosting the phosphorus and pottasium levels right about the time the girls go into flower, ( about 8 weeks after initially making the soil ). The lime. I add it only to act as a pH buffer. I've tested our water and it's always close to 7. I let it sit for 24 hours and use that. I tested the run off from my plants half way through flowering and the soil was 7.5. I check for pH each time I water ( for shits and giggles) and usually add a drop or two of pH down to bring the water into the 6 range. That's as technical as I get. pH down from the pet store. Amended soil does a wonderful job of regulating pH.
