Im highly medicated right now so i will try and type this as best & short as i can bongsmilie

https://www.rollitup.org/newbie-central/718786-should-they-taller.html

First grow went to shit (link above) Basically it resulted in nute burn using miracle grow & over watering.
Type of lighting was like 5 / 25W 6500K bulbs. (alot of heat) with fan

Current grow- 2 weeks after seeds sprouted.
1st plant photo- TH Seeds / Underdwag OG (photo-period)
2nd plant photo- Sweet seeds / Red poisen (auto) Bucket has been now cleaned of that lime.
3rd photo- Single 250W CFL 6500K (self ballasted)

I gave them just a sip of water today with a mild dose of Root Excelurator. They have been dry for 3 days so they will probably go swimming this monday. Soil is FoxFarms Ocean forest / vermiculite / dolomite lime.

The CFL light is stated to be giving off 18,500 lumens which is very high i think but the plants are thriving i think and whatever the numbers may be it works. Also HEAT!! is not really issue at all with this bulb. I had way more heat off the 5 23W cfls i was using. i found that factor to be most impressive.

I didn't see your old thread but hope you have an awesome grow this time around. How are your temps in there? Have you considered putting the bulb horizontal w/ a reflector?

I'm starting 1 photo & 1 auto this run too. Is your UD OG feminized?

It ended very quickly so not to much to miss & thanks. My temps are good. i will get a thermo in there soon but its only not even that hot in there that is has me worrying. I have considered the bulb sideways for more surface area but i dont want to have to buy a hood right now and all. Spent enough as it is right now ha but i think ill be good. Since the small amount of heat i dont think the ballast will have any issues either. Also both Seeds are feminized.

Yeah, you will get almost twice the light by turning that bulb on its side and putting it in a reflector. When it is time to flower, stick a 2700k 250w in a reflector next to it and youll be gtg.

Well couldn't I just keep the 6500k bulb for now since the (auto) plant will flower anyways? As well as keeping the OG in veg. Then down the road swap out for the 2700k

indeed the price is up there but i think for the way it performs and little heat it gives the price is not so bad. They seem to be doing very good. This is today right before watering with mild dose of root hormone. Once they get a good root ball going, they should really start growing : ) (i hope) ha

you could make a cheap hood for that with a piece of 6" straight duct. 24" long or so, you can buy them pre cut at Depot for like 10 bucks if that. cut it lengthwise up the middle and open it up. macguyver yourself a little clip to hold your light inside there and BOOYA.

or google DIY CFL hood for better instructions. you'll probably get other ideas too.

Lil under 3 weeks after seed sprout. Im still shocked at how little heat this bulb gives off. I was so spectacle.

i 2nd that, CFLs have dead spots everywhere, But the ends are by far the worst amount of lighting you can offer it.... flipping it to the side u will see a amazing results within a few days. Every singel 15 of my cfls lights are placed sideways!

Will i tried turning it sideways but it gave me a ris
k of the bulb hitting the wall so its a no go. But i honestly dont mind it Vertically. Since they are 10U bulbd in a cirle it actually shines alot of light downward. First photo is the auto and second is the photo-period. Both planted same time.

Also i just want to just put something out there for those who might be concerned with odor control. Ona seems to be the big talk around grow forums and one i ordered it for well over 20$ i just picked up 2 can spray bottles of Ozium.....for 6$ total and it kicks its ass in every way shape and form. Seems like pink bubblegum for 5 min then literally no smell of anything. Great if you have a window open but works just as good closed.

You can really c the defference in auto and the photo-period. Photo-period, Im looking at the tips of the plants. Some are skinny pointed/bending downward. So what are the temps in there? Doing a great job!

Both are on the same watering cycle and still have yet add one bit on nutrients. I love this soil ha. I dont know the exact number but best way i can explain it is it gives off the same heat as 1 small 24W cfl bulb

do you just have the one big cfl going and no little ones? you should throw some 23s in there maybe clamped right on the lip of the pot and put a turkey baster pan over your big lamp as a "hood" reflector. also looks over watered.

thats insane how cool you saw that bulb stays. really wish you could turn it sideways and get it right on them. does that thing plug into a standard outlet? if so they have desk lamps that screw to the floor with joints that you can tighten so you can swing that thing around like crazy.

Yes just one 250W cfl. It's connected with a E39 mogul base adapter on a medium base socket. I think I'm going to leave it this way without any other bulbs. I will LST & supercrop the photo-period plant.
