Whatsup RIU!

Figured I should start documenting my grow in a thread rather than a personal journal. Entering flower now but better late than never!

Here's the gang:

Back mid = Zkittlez x T-1000
Back right = Secret Service (T-1000 x Obama Kush)
Front left = Bubba Kush x T-1000
Front right = Mendocino Purple Urkle 3.5

IMG_0230.jpg

Here's the fifth lady, she's Girl Scout Cookies x Zkittlez.

IMG_0231.jpg

The MPU 3.5 is furthest along. Kind of a runt from flowering early but she's starting to thicken up a bit.

IMG_0232.jpg

Currently brewing a flowering tea.

4 gal water
1 cup EWC
6 Tbsp Jamaican Guano (0-10-0)
2 Tbsp BAS Craft Belnd (3-5-2)
1 Tbsp Sul-po-mag (0-0-22)
1 Tbsp Molasses

Thanks for checking my grow out! Hoping to see some awesome purples come through this year.

Nice color on those. I want some of that bubba cross, and that Mendo Purp is a ridiculously dense little bush.

Good luck! Peace :peace:

Thanks man! I'm learning a lesson in defoliating indicas this year. Sneaky bastards just throw fan leaves left and right, causing all sorts of problems with mold. Looking like next year I'm going to have to stick to plants with GSC structure, nice and spaced out nodes.

and every time I see your username I think springtails
Lol I hope that my username doesn't cause you PTSD. If someone's username was caterpillar I don't think I could read their posts without my blood pressure rising.

No worries. I have never had a springtail problem. I do have a memory from childhood, on occasion millions of springtails would converge by the front door, making a few square feet of a dense teeming mat several individuals thick. It was cool.

I sprayed the girls with Regalia in the morning. Top dressed with an EWC / bat guano mixture, some barley SST and watered in the guano tea that was bubbled for 24 hrs. Going to see if they can handle a fairly heavy feeding of 0-10-0 guano.

Found a small spot of gray mold on the MPU, and clipped it out. Major bummer, but I caught it early. For the 4 that are later flowering I pruned some inner larfy branches. I really need to be on top of my game or else mold will ravage. The Secret Service and Zkittlez x T-1000 are super dense and I'm getting worried for when the buds fill out.

Had to chop a branch off the MPU. One of the sugar leaves was browning, showing signs of mold.

I'm trying out Regalia root drenches on this one (the white stuff on the soil is Regalia foam). I don't think I can spray anything on the buds anymore, too risky.

Really need this indian summer to kick in, it's way too humid for these plants.

Had you been applying the GFF that you posted about on my journal? I mixed GFF into my BT application for the first time yesterday.

I have been spraying, but I think I messed up by spraying in the evening where humidity would reach 100% later that night. This plant has had systematic botrytis for over a month (the stems are rotting), and the GFF is keeping it from spreading. Even with Regalia, potassium silicate and GFF it still shows on a new branch every 7 days or so. Dabbing the branch with liquid copper works, but I wouldn't do this on a bud so I just chop.

Overall without these products, the entire plant would be a mold festival. I'm just trying to get it close to the finish line with minimal losses.

Your plants haven't shown signs of botrytis yet, correct? That's where GFF will help the most. It's a bit tricky- you have to spray when there is low humidity, not too often, and not "deep" into the buds if that makes sense.

I was driving yesterday and had a pretty profound realization: all of the branches that have had budrot were fimmed late. This resulted in 3-4 colas that were tightly packed and growing into each other. The center of this triangle is where the mold shows itself. From here on out I'll only fim/top early in the plant's life then let it grow into more natural branch spacing. There's a reason the plant evolved a Christmas tree shape, for airflow.

I've been checking as closely as possible every day, and no signs of botrytis. I cant really get full access to the colas in the middle of the weed jungle, though. I was most concerned about budworms making it inside the colas and dying from the BT. I found one like that with a little frass. I thought that might cause mold, but no signs of mold yet.

Luckily, it's been hot and dry here, but rains usually start coming by middle to end of September. We are due for some precip this weekend, but back to hot and dry next week.

Fingers crossed

Can you please post pics of the affected branches/buds?

That's good to hear. I think that I'd rather have dead caterpillars decomposing than live ones ravaging and pooping everywhere. The transition phase between precip ---> heat is where the mold will do best. Using biological controls there's only so much we can do, and we have to roll with the punches that natures gives.

Unfortunately, I didn't grab pics before chopping. I'm out of town for the next 4 days but can definitely take pics when it shows up again. Main thing to look for is dying sugar leaves. They will go limp and look out of place.

I have same thing going on plants are almost ready to harvest is this just the plant getting to end of cycle or a problem? mostly at the browned sugar leaves at stalk. But moving up and down the stalk. middle of the plant not the bottom.

Hit them with a Regalia soil drench, and some light BT misting after finding some baby caterpillars. Going to try to avoid spraying as much as possible this time.

Z-1000 (Zkittlez x T-1000 aka Trumps Candy). The smell on this is incredible, like fermented tropical fruit.

It's definitely a mold problem. When it first shows up you have to make a decision to chop or try to mitigate it. I've learned its best to just cut your loss and chop asap because the mold spreads very quick.

Same, every time I smell it I get teleported to 2009 when I bought my first 8th of Bubba and fell in love.
I used to grow something I got by the name Pure Kush. Others told me that for them it was Bubba. I let it get away and stopped growing for a while. Ever since I got back into it, I haven't found exactly the same. It's been elusive for me.
