Slime in my Buckets.

hey guys, i just opened my DWC buckets and i noticed some slime in the buckets. so i gave them a recommended dose of Microbe Brew by FoxFarms. Will the microbes eat the slime? (res temps are 78-84, cannot do anything about it yet.)

have to find a way to drop those res temps: ice bottles, ice, something thats whats causing the slime

I'll go pick up a case of water bottles, any idea what size i should use for 5 gal buckets?

20oz soda bottles and 1 liter water bottles work great for buckets

I use the 1L bottles.

picked up a case of 500ml bottles, could not find 1liters. so two should do the trick. wrapped the buckets in insulating silver bubble wrap (48$ for this stuff). add some microbes to help with the root issues and life should be good again.

When i get brown slime its usually because of water temps to high. I clean the bucket out with bleach & water. I check the roots & sides of the mesh baskets & clean with just water. i use gatorade bottles 32oz./1L .So my water temps are fluctuating from mid 50s when i put the ice bottles in to about 70 in the afternoon when i do another change. I also use hydrogen peroxide-H202. I use 2ml per liter in my rdwc. it keeps my roots white & healthy even with the wonky water temps. I add about 1ml per liter half way through the week. If ur room temps are high you will need to take care of that issue or ur buds will be airy. Im just assuming air temps are high because thats probably what is making ur ambient water temps above 78. Ideally 60-70 degrees max .My room temps are around 76/77 lights on & without ice bottles in them they still dont exceed the air temps. Warm water equals brown slime.....cheers

My room temps go from 78-82, i have a 14,000 BTU AC unit in my main living room. I don't really want to move it into the grow area because i need a window to vent from and i am scared of the smell getting out and bringing the cops to my door. last thing i need is 5 yrs in jail when i am just getting my life on track. Although i only have 4 plants in the tent, i have 3 mothers and clones. bringing my total amount of plants to over 12. Where in the emerald triangle they would not bat an eye at my personal grow, with the Revised C-10 bill and manditory minimums shit gets sketchy. Truth be told i don't even smoke weed too much anymore, i go through about a 1/8th every month. Police are right, marijuana is addictive. But only growing it.

To have a serious battle with that slime. Heisenberg tea cures it, sure. But the second you slip up and relax and miss a day of being all over it it will come back. And keep coming back. And you'll keep not harvesting and you'll keep racking up electric bills and paying all types of money on bullshit root tonics and cures that should work but don't. Like h202 for example or dm zone. Switch to something simple. If you are new, do soil. If not, do what you did before. My advice is to grow in soil and run a Dwc on the side to practice with. That way when it goes to shit, you still have your weed going

I switched to hempy because of persistent root rot probs

It would be a shame to be defeated and miss out on the explosive growth of dwc when $40 a year will prevent root rot.

I've been putting FF Microbe Brew, and FF Kangaroots in my rez as well as running 64-68f water temps with ice bottles (<3 you guys). The slime is going away slowly but surely, nice white roots are exploding through the bottom of the net pots. only a week in veg right now, and in the past few days with the ice bottles the plants are growing faster than i have ever seen. strangely though the water does not change PH or PPM's so i don't think they need a lot at this point. question though, how often should i be changing the res?
