Small cab Lighting! 250w hps?

Ok so I've built a stealth cabinet with 3 parts. The main cab measuring 31" H, 18" L, 26 W. The clone/mother cab measuring 17" H, 19" L, 8" W. And a utility cab measuring 13" H, 19" L, 8" W. Now my questions are. Can i run a 250w MH/HPS with a cool tube in the Main cab? Or will it be too much lighting, the measurements are with out pots added.

i ti think you need to build it highter they will grow quick unless you just lolly pop them??? but they will grow fast.

You would have to have plants about a foot tall if you can setup enough ventilation. If you set the 250 watt up you will want more space, it can cover about 3x4 ft from chest high. you could get a 175 watt mh or 150 hps. the sun system 150 hps worked for me but that gets hot too.

I plan on have a inline fan and cool tube. But i was hoping i could pick up a 400w dimmable and run it at 50%, so it would be running 200w. I just couldn't find a good packaged deal for a 250 dimmable..

I made a stealth gro out of an old fridge once. roughly the same dimensions.

I had a 250hps and around another 200w of t8's crammed in there.

Heat was an issue @ first. I used direct cooling of the bulb, remoted all the ballasts and added two bathroom exhaust fans to get rid of the heat.

I also brought the intake in from the bottom and used pegboard for the floor to help distribute the cool fresh air evenly.

worked great.

That would be my idea of what i want! i was thinking some t5s on the side and a 200w/250w HPS/MH. And of course i know ill have to manage the heat, i plan on getting a few pc fans for exhaust and intake along with a inline fan connected to the cool tube.

I was worried that my plant would be to close and the strength of the light would burn, not the heat but the power of the light. Im new to HPS, my alternative is a 250w cfl. I know i can control that easier.

So whats every ones thoughts? Im going to get the lighting monday, I'm leaning towards the 250w HPS. But does any one think it would be to much light for the 31"x18"x26"? The HPS will have a cool tube.

Since tomorrow is monday I guess I made it just in time.

250 is over kill for sure. 150 may even be too. I have no experience growing in spaces this small so this is all just my opinion. Go with CFL's..get a grow or two under your belt. Then get a bigger space, and a bigger light.

Is there no way to make a bigger space? You could use your current cab for veg. 31" is a really limiting height. 31-6(light)-5(pot)=20. Doesnt leave you with a lot of space. You will be much better off with a bigger space if possible.

I have to agree here^^

start with less light, get the heat under control and add more lights as you go.
60w/sq.ft will do very well in there.

YOu can not go wrong with bigger fans here. Slow em down if heat is a non issue.
