Small plants into 600w HPS

Hi guys!

Looking to set up my first grow and the whole tent kit/nutes/ seeds cost me about $700.

So having blown my budget, I'm unsure how to start off the seeds/small plants. I'm going with a 600w HPS for both vegging and bloom of 4 plants (ScrOG) in my 4x4x6 tent, without any adjustment option on the ballast. I also have four small 18w LED lamps.

How do I do this? Putting each seed/small plant under it's own 18w LED for the first couple of weeks and then turning on the 600w? Hanging only the 600w 3-4feet above?

ArcticGrow, Sounds like your well on your way, You can germinate the seeds in a plate and paper towel but I always just get the medium damp, Not Soaking wet, and put the seed under the Medium about a 16th to an 8th inch deep, Should come up in a few days, But it sounds like you have it together, Good Luck and Welcome to RIU.

Lots of good info here and on youtube, so in theory I'm already a master grower Until all the over/underwatering, nuteburns, deficiancies etc comes along..

Any takes on the lighting issue? Should I put them directly under the 600w after they come up or under my weakass LED's?

Let em grow under your cfls for awhile first, . I grow mine under T5s Until I put them into the Flower room, I also run 600s and I really like them, Just remember Keep it simple,

What are you Using for your Medium ?
I have never used the LEDs but a buddy uses them and he seems happy, It grows good stuff,
Are you Using Well water or City water ? it will all come with time and patients, I do keep my 600s a foot to three feet away and they seem to do well.
The more complicated the more problems will arise. Some people have good luck using a shit ton of other things I just found it cause more problems for me. So I like to keep it simple. Lots of good info on this site and good people.

Thinking seeds in Jiffy peat, put the Jiffy in a 50/50 plain soil/Plagron Growmix blend with extra perlite when roots emerge and finally in a 3gallon pot with all Growmix/Perlite. Then start 1/4 to 1/2 strenght GHE Flora Micro/Bloom after 2-3 weeks in the Growmix.

I'm not sure how our Scandinavian water is, but it is city-water so it might have some chlorine in it. Air it out before watering or use rainwater I guess.
