Smell..

As much as I personally love it, it could get me caught. How do the rest of you deal with it?

Any advice on what I should be looking at specifically?

Well I would get one that has a "mount" if you will for the size ducting you are using or the size ducting you have on your hood for your light or w/e size ducting you want to use if neither of the aforementioned are applicable!

They are big and metal and usually have white clothy stuff around them with broken up charcoaly stuff in this fencelike shell..

Just guage how big it needs to be in relation to how big your growspot is...

Do not get one with a "duct" fan. You can get a better price than that.

I am forced to vent into the rest of my house. I do not know your set up or how you exhaust, but I use an odorsok for an in-room filter. I use 1000cfm version attached to a 667cfm fan. My garden is under 1000wts and the odorsok works perfectly for about 6 months. After that I wash it and move it to the living room and get another 6 months of smoke filtering out of it. (and I replace the one in the grow room of course) They are lightweight (under 2lbs) and can be mounted just about anywhere up out of the way. Nice thing is they can still work well in high humidity, just might have to take a blow dryer to them every couple months to reactivate. I spend $200/yr on odor control, as the 1000cfm odorsoks are $100. (buy one every six months)

I also vent into the rest of my house. More of a passive system. All the replies & info greatly appriciated guys happy growing

You can wash and reactivate the charcoal at least once!

Bad advice!! If your doing a few get a rino filter u get what u pay for when it comes down to your filter no exspence matters FACT cheap filters are shit

Here is a Holmes airfilter.I put about a 1/8" layer of Marineland activated carbon over the long ago spent carbon sheet that came with the unit.Since the Carbon is so cheap I change it out every month.I tested it out to 45 days and this is when the smells start bleeding thru.I just clean out prefilter,dump carbon,clean old carbon sheet,inspect pleated Hepa filter underneath,and put all back with new layer.

I do not vent outside so this is a same room stand alone filter.I would not do this if it did not work.I have friends come over unaware of what's goin on less than 15ft away from them.Most important of all my main bro is a Leo,and respected member of the community.I know he would not tell on me,but I do not want him worrying about me either,and I also limit my public exposure with him out of respect.

I do not grow super dank aka skunky strains (that is another debate I will not get into) so I can get away with a timed 3 hr on 3 hr off cycle to save some electricity.If this was not my own place,or growing some Chemdawg or something then 24hrs it would be on with a strict monthly change.Granted I run a perpetual cabinet,but if I did nothing it would definately hit you when you come in the front door.

Security is very important,but just like growing in general:research goes a long way.
