hi peeps anyone know if you can get these in the UK? and are they any good for Cheap/Quick fix...need to get Fan/Filter up and running.
Going to build a -

"How To Build A Twin Variac & ATC 800 + Fan Speed Controller - By Bud LightYear 2013"

When I've saved money up for parts..Buds just looks Awesome..and I build/Fix computers so gotta have a go...but for now just trying to find a cheap(Temp) solution to the problem.

Also has anyone got one of these (SMS SMART CONTROLLER) and what's the opinion/verdict on em? It's just that I've had my Fan/Filter for about a month now and want to get it up and running..
just waiting on 6" hole saw bit to come off Fleabay then can get started..but don't just want the Fan running at Max(blindly) without some control over the system.
I Went with a Powerful (IMO) Up to 550 m3/h airflow fan so that would have more than enough power, but would also be able to dial it down.

Now one of the cheap Controllers I'm looking into is -

smscom smart controller -

Product Features:
* Software regulated; * No more temperature fluctuations and no more humming from your fans;
* The Smart Controller adjusts the speed of your fans smoothly and fluidly and keeps your room within +/- 1 degree of your set temperature;
Product Specification:
* Fans: 1;
* Adjustable Capacity: Max. 5A 1000W;
* Dynamic Temperature Control;
* NTC Temperature 2m probe included;
* Maximum 4250 m3;
* Plug and play;
* Knob1: Minimum fan speed;
* Knob2: Temperature setting;
* 5 year warranty from SMSCOM;

Product Description:
The SMSCOM Smart Controller samples air temperature and automatically calculates the best speed that the fans should run at to achieve the target temperature, then it uses software to dynamically control the fan speed and maintain the required temperature. This prevents fans ramping up and down unnecessarily which keeps fans quiet and efficient.

Customer Notice:
* The Smart Controller is software controlled. Therefore, it reacts completely different to the usual controllers. The Smart Controller requires 5 minutes to scan your room and make an evaluation for the gradual increase or decrease of your fan. In the course of a cycle it will automatically find the appropriate constant capacity level of the fan to maintain programmed temperature. THIS NEW TECHNIQUE MEANS NO MORE TEMPERATURE FLUCTUATIONS AND FAN NOISE IS KEPT MINIMUM.
* Knob 1: The fan will run on the minimum fan speed when the desired temperature is reached.
* Knob 2: Is your desired temperature for the room.
* TIP: ALWAYS PUT YOUR PROBE IN THE CENTER OF THE ROOM.

I use the SMSCOM SMART controller in my room.

It works really well, especially during colder weather.

If running your fan on 100% now doesn't solve heat problems a controller won't be of any benefit. Although if your fan running on full power now is making your room too cold then it will be perfect.

I set my idle speed low, around 25%, then set my temp to 22C on the dial, then I position my probe from the controller on a wall of my grow room.

This keeps the fan at a speed capable of controlling the the ambient temp at 22C.

During dark hours in my room the controller slows down the fan to my idle speed to try to maintain 22C.

I got mine from eBay. CHARLIESHYDRO I think.

Thanks for reply jondamon, no I've not got Fan setup yet..been putting it off,and off...basically been trying to source right parts..Hole Saw/Flanges/Vent Cover...Etc
But this Friday I will have all the bits and can get on with it. what I didn't want to do was rush it and bodge it..Also the Smart Controller is just so I can dial it down (550 m3/h Fan for a GR1 - L4' x W4' x H8' - 190CFM min - 200-300CFM ideal) when I got this I went for more power than I needed..did look at the 4" kits but after doing the maths would've had to have the system running a full whack all the time and after adding Ducting and so on it would've been Fruitless to say the least.

Thanks again for reply..just didn't want to get the smscom without doing some research and asking peeps..

seen an Amazing Tut on howto build a Fan/Temp Controller(BudLightYear)...just dollar I don't have at the moment

I use a 400w hps open reflector with RVK150a1(480m3/h) fan and the temp controller.

Hot days in the UK I can hit 29C. Winter running keeps everything at 24C

I intake cold air from outside and exhaust into my attic.

I also use an 80w tubular heater during dark hours and during winter I have to use a dehumidifier (221w) set to 40% RH to control RH and add a little heat.

I am using a 250w hps open reflector, before this it was Various CFL inc a 200w Dual Giant CFL(and boy was it BIG) did a good bit of learning and growing with this..but in the end decided I wanted more Lumens(200w CFL = 8000L vs 250w hps/mh = 20000L/32000L) wanted to go for 400-600w hps but my Budget just wouldn't stretch that far..reading your post and the Power of your Fan I am glad i went for more power than the Basic 4" job.
Started Growin in the Winter of 2012 and Temps wasn't a problem but then this year because of Mad weather my Temps have been up and down(had to have door open when lights on)
and kinda wanted just a Lil bit more Stealth than that Lol...couldn't have visitors round..indeed some peeps thought i was ignoring em...
GOT to get Fan/Filter + Controller up and running then Door can be shut ALL times..got about 2 wks before switch my Cotton Candy / 00 Chcoc Skunk / Bomb Cherry Bomb / White Widow X Skunk#1 into 12/12 these all Fems apart from WWxSkunk=Regs and are the first of paid for seeds(will be taking cuttings) but before this was Bag seed and Pot Luck..Lol
