Hey Guys, 1st of all I would like to wish everyone a very merry Christmas, hope everyone is having a great day.

Now to business.....SNEAKERS. I love them. I know the sneaker thing has been pretty big for sometime, especially for those of you living in the States. In Ireland, we don't have any specialist sneaker stores like Alife, Flighclub, Undefeated, Solebox etc. We do have a Size store, one, which is piss poor, and then the likes of Footlocker, which aren't great. Obviously we don't have the same demand for sneakers as the states, but I believe a boutique style setup like some of the above would go down a treat and do very well.

Tbh, I know very little about the industry. I've alway said i would love a great sneaker shop over here but never really thought about being the person to make it happen. Now I'm
bored, not sure what to do in the coming year so I said I would have a look into things.
What I do know it's there's a healthy margin on sneakers.
I come from a retail/sales backround so maybe I can combine my love of sneakers with my previous work experience and make something happen.

Does anybody online on rollitup have any experience in the industry? Does anyone know how accounts work with Nike etc? This I think will be the main issue, I have complete confidence in myself in regards to a solid business plan, finding a great location, setting up an amazing store with a wow factor, employing excellent knowledgable staff, marketing, raising capital etc.
As I've said setting up decent credit lines with big suppliers is what I'm not sure about?
Anybody any input or words of wisdom?
Any comments welcome, try keep them positive please.
Merry Christmas again :)
not sure about.

The Uk has very successful independent boutique-style sneaker stores- you're right, it's avert lucrative business. Even the hoodrats don't want to be caught without pristine bespoke footwear. Customization is very popular. I wish you all the best with this venture, sir <3

Some examples you could learn from x

I used to live in Brixton a years ago. I remember when I was 1st there when I was about 14 a load of black guys tried to rob by nikeys of my feet, they got one of them and I managed to get away with the other lol. Suppose we both kinda lost :)
I miss the skate park over there aswell, must get back overthere soon.
That video is in London and your in America right?
Yes we have JJB and John Davids but there rubbish, they all have the same boring sneakers, they lack a personal touch, there to commercialized and I believe people would choose a trendy boutique style place, with great selection of kicks, great music, educated staff and nice relaxed atmosphere than one of the big fish!!

It'd be cool if it were like an Apple Store vs PC World kind of thing; open layout, friendly kooky staff who are really into what they do, nicely furnished and you can get hands on with the products. Good music is a definite, maybe some nice art on the walls from local street artists. Have you seen My Brixton Trainers? It's all covered Graffiti-style up front <3 But I seriously recommend customs, people will go crazy for it. They pay extortionate amounts of money for Nike Is and those are pretty standard

As for finding out about supply, I've found the best way is to go right up and ask. Mama got her job walking in off the street 2 years ago and now she runs her own production company. She said I'm crazy. 'You can't just go up to them and ask!!!!' Well, why not? Explain you want to bring their sneakers to a gap in market or you want to do a better job promoting/selling their product than the local shoe store. xxx
