So I let my bud dry before trimming...

I don't mind it. Once you're dry enough you don't have to snip with the scissors more than you sweep them down the bud and break the leaves off. Leaving them on during the dry stretches it out longer which I believe is beneficial to flavor and smoothness.

I clearly notice more taste of buds dried with leaves on. One of the easiest things to test isn't it... I agree it's a bitch to trim though. I don't want leaves to 'break' off, I want them gone.

I might try trimming the sugar leaves opposed to the fan leaves only. Still have enough moist to slow down drying and curing while they can be easily removed.

Since I just grow for myself I prefer leaving them on until I want to smoke the bud. They curl up nicely around the bud protecting the trichomes while they are getting bumped around in the jar. Also, I usually smoke a pipe so getting put into the bowl doesn't bother me. I sure wouldn't want to do this for customers though, but for myself I think it is the best way.
