Owsley Stanley Also known as Bear died last weekend in a car crash in Australia, where he lived.

It was Owsley who made Ken Kesey’s parties the Acid Tests. It was Owsley who made 300,000 hits for the Human Be-In.

It was Owsley who gave acid to Jimi Hendrix, Pete Townshend and Brian Jones (among many others) at the legendary Monterey Pop Festival of 1967.

It was Owsley who agreed to deliver a lifetime supply of LSD to John Lennon.

And certainly not least, it was Owsley who originally financed, inspired, amplified and dosed the great American rock band, the Grateful Dead (more about that in a bit).

I have read about this on Monday ... but thank you for bringing it here.
The dude made a lot of LSD ... I will research this further.

Great character for a protagonist in a 'biographical' story.

Indeed, I feel he's worthy of a feature film of his own, as much as anyone who was influential on the 60's counter culture movement.

There supposedly making the electric koolaid acid tests, into a movie. focusing on ken keasy and the merry pranksters mainly. Im sure an owsley character would make an apperance in the film.

Sad news in LSD History. Owsley the Great Sunshine man did a lot. He walked a shiny thin rope into prosperity within the human confines of his mind and many others. He'll truly be missed.

It would be very damn hard to duplicate the sketchiness of which the book's theme takes place. I'd say give it another 5 years and you might see it in a small production film somewhere :D

Circulation? LOL I don't know about that. There will be more fakes than ever in circulation, and a few greedy people may TRY to put what they have in circulation, but for an exorbitant and they will be bunk by now.

Came across someone claiming owsley hits just today. Dude wouldn't accept money and would only barter, but in the end, I've got one with my name on it.

We'll see about all this Owsley talk (I'm expecting at least 200mics from this one if it's TRULY Owsley's work) but I bet its just some marketing bullshit.

Okay, I'll try and explain this. Owsley Stanley, if he did synthesize LSD at all recently, would have definitely been far more than half a decade ago. Before his cancer. Pre-2004. While LSD, with extremely good care, will only last a couple years before severe and very noticeable decay. :) Like I said, you may have a blotter hit, some White Lightning, but it's going to be virtually devoid of LSD.

That's fucking awesome. I talked to him, well, very briefly on the Low Carb forum he was on. :D He left it up to people to find out who he was. Kinda seemed like it might have been a mini game to him. :D
