Ok, so i started out thinking i could possibly harvest 24 plants in my SOG style grow.... but ive been doing my research and have recently concluded that in this space (8x5) thats probably not a realistic goal.
So what ive done is ive basically halfed the idea and am now working on a 2 week perpetual harvesting cycle with DWC 18 gallon rubbermaids with six 6" net pots with hydroton as a medium 1200 watts of air cooled HPS lights over about 5x4 area with 48 plants (four sets of 12, 2 weeks apart) which puts me at about 54-55 watts per sq. ft.
I cut clones about 6-8 inches tall and let em' sit for 2 weeks under a 300 watt equivalent CFL in a homemade EZ-Cloner, then off to veg. for 2 weeks under 6, 4 foot T8 floro's at 32 watts per bulb in whats basically the same thing as the cloner only with different nutes running, next its off to the flowering room at about 9-10 inches tall for 8 weeks (strain is Northern Lights #5)
Im planing to harvest 12 at a time, hoping i can yield about an ounce per plant bringing it to a grand total of about 3/4 of a pound every 2 weeks...
????????right now my only concern is the fact that the first batch of 12 that i put in to flower (apprx. 16 days ago) have stretched somewhat, ive got the lights about 7-10 inches off the tops of the tallest ones (tallest ones being at about 16 inches post-stretching) and im wondering if this is normal or not, and also what i can do to prevent this from happening in the future.... they seem to be producing buds normally and quite efficiently but i worry that the yield will fall short due to the long thin stems of the plants????????????
If any one is attempting something similar to this setup, or is growing any type of SOG setup really, it would be greatly appreciated if you could help me with some advice.
Also if any one out there has had some break through's with the stretching problem, or knows any sure fire ways to shorten/reduce internodal lengths specifically for a SOG style setup please feel free to throw out your ideas and opinions and even some odd ball things you've tried
any and all comments, questions and concerns welcome...... thanks MASH
