what about coco ?
and the problem i had with sand is that it fills in the gaps and compacts fairly easy

is it possible to order it from amazon or similar? if not, see if you can get vermiculite, it works too.

From everything ive read spagum peat moss is the organic equivalent of perlite and from what ive read from experts is that peat leeches cal mag so read up,,also as othes stated,,, vermiculite has simmilar properties,, also just ordering pre mixed premium soils like roots,,, you might find all the perlite youll ever need,,and of course use google search I can almost bet youll find a source in europe if not your own country.

Not sure of the question.

I mix up roughly equal parts of cheap potting soil (compost in it being the only nutes), peat moss, perlite, and vermiculite. I mix in about 2T of dolomite lime per gallon.

Not saying it is any sort of uber mix but it works, I can control the nutes, and the roots seem to get lots of air and moisture.

i use DynaGro for nutes and do use their mag#. I have seen what looks like cal def before, but not bad and plants stayed well through harvest. I think part of my prob may have been running too cold and impacting intake, not the soil.

the problem with peat is the PH will just randomly fall out after an extended period of time

and he was trying to find a substitute for perlite @GrowinDad

Ooops, short term memory loss.

I would go very small rocks or big sand if such a thing exists. Vermiculite also works but hold more water.

I would find out what people do locally to better aerate dense soils. There must be some local solution.

I have never had a problem with soil PH and my mix is peat heavy (since there is some in the potting soil). Maybe the lime is doing its job or maybe because I religiously PH my water/feed to 6.3-6.5.
