Soil mix

Looking for some wisdom on mixing soil. I've had nothing but problems with stuff out of the bag.
Going to start a new grow in 2 months. Growing 2 sour diesel af from ilgm. What I've done in preparation is 1\3 peat moss 1\3 Kellogg organic plus potting soil 1\3 perlite. Mixed up about 5 gallons worth added 1 cup of bone meal. Put the mix in a black plastic bag and let sit out in the sun to cookout any bugs and let the bone meal breakdown. Is this a waste of time?
I want to grow 1 in this mix and one in whatever I get from this thread.

Why are you just amending with a high P amendment? What about nitrogen, potassium, and micronutrients? And 1 cup seems like lot for 5 gallons.

If you're having problems with soil you can try out coco. It's similar to soil in that it's a good rooting and support medium, but different in that you have to feed every watering. It's easier to adjust nutrient delivery in coco if you notice a deficiency or overfeeding issue. It is more of a pain if you're not auto-irrigating your plants though. I know from experience how quickly things can go south.
