soil mix

hi iam starting my first grow and ive been reading i need sterilized soil but iam having probs getting some where i live, so i got some soil from the garden center with a 6ph reading, should i sterilize the soil myself then add my own fertilizer or could i get away with just using it.
next q lol i bought some perlite to mix in but i also got a bag of vermiculite by mistake but reading the bags they do the same thing, could i mix this in aswell.

you can get away with just using it, and you could mix in the vermiculite as well, you should go pick up some sphagnum peat moss as well, it really helps with water retention!

thanks, the prob with the garden center the bags dont have much info on them. i asked for sterilized soil and she looked at me as tho i was on a different planet pmsl.

haha, i know how you feel man, i ask a home depot employee if they got rooting hormone, and he just stares at me blankly for like 30 seconds before saying, "what is that?" haha
