Soil Mixes

What kind of soil mixes do you guys use?

I don't have any access to brands like Fox Farm and Black Gold, so I'm stuck with the more commercial soils. Is Scotts potting soil better to start out with than MG? Any secret recipes to make the lower quality soils better to use?

Yo I use this stuff called pro-mix ultimate container mix. It is ph balanced so no need to worry, and it is light as hell when dry, but holds water very well. It really gave my girls a good space to root and I will never use anything else.

Agreed, pro-mix is great, but you can add 5-10% (by volume) perlite and 5-10% sand to most soils and it will help them support MJ. I hate MG, best to use something without added fertilizer, especially if your starting from seed. Never plant seeds in soil that has added fertilizers, it will stunt or stop their growth entirely. If you ARE going to use MG soil get the Organic Solutions product, fewer chances of over fertilization.
