A good place to start is 3 parts good potting soil, 1 part perlite and 1 part worm castings (little N, Mg and micros). Add Bone (P & Ca), Blood (N & Fe) and Kelp (K and micros) Meals. Try to avoid manures for potted plants. They work best when they spend a long time degrading in the soil. Manures are also very acidic and don't drain well. Both Bone Meal and often even more so, Potash, are alkaline and often take the place of lime in a soil mix. Try it out first and check the Ph over the course of a few weeks before adding lime to future mixes. It's usually easier fix acidic soil than alkaline soil.

just want some comments on what a good soil mix could be? does this sound like a good mix? bucket full of organic potting mix (this will be very close to the right pH), handfull of blond bone and potash (1/2 handful of bone and blood meal) , hand full of chicken manure , handfull of cow manure (if they have been composted needs to age), hand full of worm castings (if you have enough use up to 20% of total mix) , and half a handfull of lime!?(lime is used to lower the pH and will burn roots if not aged don't use it) i wish i could get guano around here but cant . is there anything else i could add??(coco is excelent and you can go up to 50% of your mix)

Best of luck
