ok im new to growing and am starting out with little to no money....im in my closet with one skywalker plant...the area if maybe 2 square foot at most i have the inside of the pot lined with tin foil as well as walls of closet....i purchased 3 100watt daylight CFLs that put out 1700 lumines each and have them in their own reflectors....my question is: Is this enough/to much light or do i need more/less light?

u cant really have too much light indoors. u can never mimick how strong the sun is. the problem u run into is more light, more heat. 300w is good for one plant, u can go more just make sure u have circulation in ur room. new air in and old air being moved out. ur bulbs (5000k) are good for veggin but plants use more red light when flowering so u will want to add or replace with 2700k

check out my gorw. link in my sig. im using a similar size grow area, and you can see how many and what type bulbs i have, and how my plant has responded. check all pages for the most up-to-date pictures. pics in the OP are old now

ive got 4 6500K bulbs and 1 2700K bulb. almost 3 weeks old. regular potting soil with trace amounts of nutes. regular tap water...

Usually 3 23w lights are the bare minimum for growing per plant... depending on the plant size. I'd say add acouple more if you want to strive for a larger yield... Also get rid of the tin foil! your better off leaving it bare... or even better use flat white paint or mylar.

I'm new to cfl too so I'm also in the same pickle with lighting... growing pot is so damn expensive!

I got 302 watts of CFL light on one female that is about 8 inches tall.. You REALLY cant have too much light.. I started with 136 watts, then doubled it plus some after a few weeks.. I got 5 of the 42 watt CFLs and two 26s, one 27, and one 13.. I know its odd, but I love my current ghetto setup..
