So tonight i find spider mites crawling through my soil on both plants. Tried to find some way to save them tonight and then finish tomorrow but heres what ive done so far:

Took both plants and washed thouroughly from roots to top of plant with just cold water. Then cleaned pots with clorine and repotted one plant to the top like before but without nutrients. I did not have enough soil for the 2nd and only fill a small pot half way, just enough to cover roots. Each plants roots were about 14 inches but i cut about 2 inches off the bottom. I did not water my soil. Is that right? what should i do next. I read that mixing apple juice concentrated and water in a spray bottle will kill the bugs and i did that on the leaves and roots. Will this kill the plant or do good? What is my next step please. Tomorrow morning I will get more soil but i know i need to do more but what? Please be specific.

Mites crawling on soil? I didn't know they did that. You sure you don't have fungus gnats maybe. I've done a bit of research on mites and never heard of them being killed by spraying apple juice either. Try covering soil (so they do not drink water and develop nutrient problems later on) and then wash the leaves w/room temp. water.I read in a gardening book that if you can wash the plant it breaks the cycle. Then you can try spraying w/Neem oil and soap mixture or maybe even Flora Killer if you really want to kill the little pests. If you wash plants, then spray w/ Neem water 1x a week and toss in a few thousand ladybugs hopefully that will do it for you.

try covering the top of your soil with an inch or 2 of sand,I hear this helps with critters in the soil. good luck
