Spiders, Not Spider mites..

I have a tent setup in a basement until I move into a new place.

I keep running into large spiders, not spider mites.

Does peppermint oil work for actual spiders. Not really doing any damage to the plants they just like to hide underneath the drip trays.

I also notice black ink-like dots on the thicker stems of the plants. When I scrape them off they squish and leave little inki-like stains behind. Didn't see anything about this on the threads is it a common known issue?

thats what i figured cause they're not harming anything just creating small webs underneath the drip trays and it's kind of terrifying having a black spider unexpectedly crawl up my arm.. what about the black dots on my plants?

I hate spiders as much as the next guy, but I've learned to deal with them.

Not sure about the spots, could be eggs. Hopefully someone else knows.

How big?

Are they really like a dot of ink or are they round and dome shaped?

Google scale insects just to be sure.

almost no spider is a pest to cannabis, most are predators that eat pests. Unless they are making webs on your buds or something i would not worry about spiders.

I don't like letting daddy long legs spiders to build up... seems almost ike their webs attract mites. I have no proof they effect mites at all tho.
I do notice they catch the gnats / fruit flies tho. Go figure.

I would have thought spiders = bad. Maybe not tho :). Good info!

Black dots that squish and leave an inky stain? Instead of pooping and peeing like we do, Spiders excrete a combination of their liquid and solid waste (kinda like birds) that often times looks like little droplets of black ink. Really kinda gross actually, and also my bet as to what you are seeing.

most spiders are your friends in a grow situation...they hunt alot...but the only down fall is the excretement they leave when they shit....as long as its not on the buds..it can cause mold..I encourage them when flowering and up to the last 3 weeks of flowering..then I remove them...its just any other bug like catapillars...once they shit on buds you can expect bud rot there....
