Start 12/12 soon?

I was thinking I would let this grow another 3 weeks before 12/12. It stands at a wopping 9.5 inches, however a friend of mine thinks I should top in three weeks before I start 12/12. Some advice from someone with expierence would be much appreciated.

how old is the plant? that is always my main consideration. putting a plant into flower is like getting it pregnant. you want it to be as mature as possible so that it produces at its best. you wouldn't want to get a 10 year old pregnant, would you? i hope not, ya sick bya-stud! :bigjoint:

also, how thick is the plant's stem? you want your plant to be strong enough to hold up the weight of the bud its going to produce. let me know the answers to those questions and i can give you some more help if you want. :peace:

The plant is almost 3 months old. The stem is about an 8th of an inch thick, maybe a little more. It's indoors at night or durring cloudy days and outdoors when it's nice and I'm home to keep an eye. prolly about 50/50.

has the plant showed its sex yet? have you seen the female preflowers? sounds like it's not very big for 3 months old. do you have a fan on it at night when its inside?

personally i would top it so your innernodes get a chance to catch up to the top so you get a bushy plant. i would top it now, let it veg for 3 more weeks, and then flip to 12/12
