starting business

I've been working at a hydroponic store about 2 years but been around the shop 5 years though, now i'm a bit tired of lining the owners pocketskiss-ass working my ass off, so i want to open my own store. so what i would like to know is if anyone knows what steps need to be taken to open my own store, i know what products move and what doesnt, i know how to set up rooms just setting up the ducting i'm still a little sketchy on. i run the shop i work at now i just dont pay bills but i do everything else so If anyone has any information that could help me it would be great.

If you have no clue how to run a buisiness, go back to school and learn. It's not as simple as open the doors and let the customers flood in. A big portion of it is luck, and you need a LOT of money to spend. Probably around $70,000 start up costs.

You need that start up money dude. some people work and save up about 20,000 and then get a loan to cover whatever else expenses. This aint like in the movies where you can start a business from a dinner table bro. in 2009 you need money cause money talks. I don't think a hydro store is a good business to start up in because when you look at it why would people go to YOUR hydro store rather than the one they've been going to for years? Unless your products are insanely cheap but would you take losses just to get business going and I mean major loses for a couple years? I think you should work your way up to manager in your hydro store then take it over or simply buy the business that your working at from the owner lol.

If your not sure of where to begin try asking your local chamber of commerce (I wouldn't tell them it's a hydroshop tho)
