Starting my first grow! A few questions???

Ok. I have built a 6x3 area divided into two spaces. This looks WAY smaller then I thought it would. I have a 300 watt hps commercial fixture. Like the ones under the highway. Is that ok to use? Also how many plants can I grow in such a small area? I have a 175 watt mh light, can supplement with additional lighting, I can use for veg but think I will go pick up a t5 light.

My goal is high quality meds for my extremely ill parents. I have some botany experience but more theory then practice. Any advice is much appreciated!

Make sure you have proper ventilation. Put the lights in and check temp's, You'll also have to keep an eye on humidity. Those lights will work, but is the ballast internal or external? Thats extra heat in a small space if it's part of the light.

Yeah it's in a big box. I am way up in the mountains and it gets a little cool downstairs where the plants will be so I am hoping the lights will keep them warm so I don't have to hear the room as well. I did check out that tread and it is awesome! I will be trying a few lst methods to see which I like the best. I have read about everything on this site!
