Starting outdoor plants inside?

hey i was wondering if someone could tell me when would be the best time to germanate my seeds inside, then transfer them to their final location outside. like what factors are involved, time of the year, daytime temp, nighttime temp, or is it just overall better for the plant to start outside through its entire life-cycle? thanks any answers would help.

people start outdoor plants indoors in climates that prevent them from finishing well if only planted outdoors, like up here in Maine...they get started in feb/march inside, then transplanted outdoors towards the end of may :) It also depends on what type of strain you are running...trying to do a sativa in northern climates is pretty much impossible if you only plant it outdoors...starting it much earlier indoors gives you a better chance of it finishing :)

It also helps the plant get to a size that a random deer won't come by and just bite it down to the nub :)

depends on how large you want the plants. you veg some plants 4 or 5 months inside before putting outside in spring and you can get monster plants. thats another reason people start indoors, you take a plant thats already good sized out in spring by the time all is said and done you can have lbs pretty easy. even plants only vegged a month or two will still get a decent jump on growing.
