Stealth Grow...Taking Care of My 88 Year Old Dad.

Thought I would share my closet stealth grow I started on Aug. 1st. After 25 years in Florida smokin the finest weed 3 years ago I had to move back to my hometown to take care of my Dad due to his failing health. With no connections here i was without smoke for over 2 1/2 yrs until last summer when i finally hooked up with an old freind. Never wanting to be in that situation again i decided to grow my own in my bedroom closet. I currently have 3 ladies in flower an indica and sativa both 5 weeks since flipped (started Aug 15th) hoping to harvest by 12/20 we will see. The 3rd is an indica i started 12/12 from seed on 10/1. I have also converted another closet into my veg/clone room. Dailing this grow in has been a challenge but 3 months worth of reading these forums has been priceless (in particular Uncle Bens threads). My Dad has no clue..... this setup is upstairs in a townhome he can't access due to a disability. Flowering tent Veg/cloneIndica, sativa My main question is the indica's lower buds are further along thatn the main cola should i harvest those first or wait until then main cola is ready and do it all at once?

get bigger cfls than those small ones, or just buy some small HID lights like a couple of 250watters

500w of Hps burning is going to create a lot of heat.. I'm in a 2x2 grow right now running 2 150w lights and they get pretty hot, temps in high 70s with good exhaust. Maybe a 400w at most would work well in this setup.. Right nkw OP looks to be runnjng around 250w of CFL. So maybe a 250w hps or dimmable 400w?

I'm running a little over 425W of cfl's in the flowering tent. Low budget diy been adding gradually since Aug. My plan is to upgrade to a 600W hps after this 1st harvest. It's been a learning experience just trying to fine tune the ventilation system to control temps such a relief now that it's done....summer was brutal here. Does anyone have any advice regarding my question [My main question is the indica's lower buds are further along than the main cola should i harvest those first or wait until then main cola is ready and do it all at once?]. This is an indica i topped using Uncle Ben's Topping Technique i topped 6 days ago per his instructions should produce 4 main colas so good so far. Feel free to ask if you have questions {re: soil, lights, ventilation, ect.) I'll update with progress as this moves forward......Burn One.,

Found these at walmart $10. Using on veg room stapled velcro on the curtain and door frame so i can close up for dark period. Works great.

I feel you mate...being dry for a long period and then wanting to be independent and grow those ladies by yourself without relying on shady dealers and their crappy stuff...best of luck and stay safe above all

how are you coping with the aroma?

I have a diy carbon filter. It's been working well but probably gonna buy one soon as i hear the diy filters wear out fast.

for your setup you should get a 250w HID trust me lumens dont add up and what your giving it is only like 5k when it could be 25k, and it produces almost no heat, if you have a 4" inline fan then itll be perfect temps

Well still no answear to my question after all these views....hmmmm. I appreciate the advice on lights but i'll stick with what i have until after this 1st harvest. Updated photo of the girl i topped to produce 4 colas shes grown over an inch in 2 days,,,

You said 5 weeks in flower,are you sure their ready(clear/amber trichs)?Do you have a microscope to examine the trichomes?Its fine,you can harvest those lower buds if they are ready.Do it before lights off......less stressful for plant...Imo.GL.peace

Thank you for the reply. I don't have a microscope just a mag glass. The pistols on the lower buds are about 40% amber, cola 10%. Think i'll just wait.....Thanks again.

Its not the hairs/pistils on the buds that determine when your plant is ready for harvest its the TRICHOMES which is why you need a 60x microscope.At 5 weeks I know their not ready.Youtube/Google it "When to harvest cannabis".GL.

Added a cool mist humidifier in my veg room about a week ago. What a difference. RH now stays between 45-55% my plants love it.....Burn One

Indica 43 days flower(trichs mostly clear some amber ones on leaves) indica 12/12 (50 days) my 12/12 experiment lol not expecting much yield, but she has filled out some in the last few days....Sativa 43 days flower (trichs clear) damn this thing may not be ready til January

Good morning all...since this is my 1st grow I started with bag seed. I think i would like to order some seeds come Jan. any suggestions? Do u order feminized? Are they the same as autoflowering? Burn One.

They are def not ready to harvest. So many white hairs and with only cfl you can add more time than typical HID lighting. If you don't let them go at least 8 weeks the sativa 10 IMO. Otherwise you will decrease yield by at least 30% have really really airy not potent buds. I would let them all go longer and worrying about chopping when they are riper.

I was kinda thinking 12/20 or so i think the indica will finish before the sativa. I don't mind waiting...I'm just gonna keep and eye on the trichs and see what happens. Thanks for the advice. Burn One.
