Stem Colour

Hi peeps, first time growing so go easy on me.

I am growing two short ryder plants in a small box with good lighting and good air exchange. There is 3 days between the age of each plant, but one thing I notice which concerns me is, the older plant has a nice rich green colour to the stem but the younger plant has a very red/purple colour to its stem. Both seeds are the same strain.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

Likely just different phenotypes. Even plants of the same strain can exhibit very different attributes. No two seeds are created equal. Some may take after their father and others will take on their mother's traits. Genetic variation is Mother Nature's way of evolving the species. In some ways, you're lucky. Grow out both phenotypes and clone the one which flourishes in your particular environment and produces the kind of smoke you prefer. Cloning is the only way to guarantee an exact copy of a plant's genes. Good luck and happy growing.

No.. I thought if its like that color its dying or underwatered or something like that?

I've had purple stems on seedlings and mature plants alike and they turned out just fine. Sometimes cold temperatures can cause stems and leaves to turn purple or red, but since he's got two plants growing in the same medium and exposed to the same environment and only one plant is exhibiting this, I highly doubt that's the case.

Just noticed mine was purple also lol. So i watered it hope that fixes it and mine might be the strain not sure.
