aerocloner 50 site.

15min on 15min off
ph 5.8
ppm 200
75* res temp
70-74* external temp.
humidity is 60%
florescent lighting about 1.5' away

took 12 clones... 5 rooted after 18 days... but i still have 7 that just have bumps all over them. plants look fine up top but bottom leaves are starting to yellow now.... why are these roots not taking?

i snip clones... then 45* cut right below a node... shave that node off with razor. soak in ph5.8 water/rooting horome for 15-20 mins then into the cloner.....

should i change the timer to 15on 30off?????????

naw...should just use a rooting gel instead of a hormone...this should only take 5--10 days with the gel...was amazed at the diff

Im pretty sure aero should be on all the time. Are all the clones from the same strain?

yeah all clones so far are bigbud. will be taking blue mystic and bangi haze within a week.

i had the sprayers on 24/7 but my roots were just growing straight down and not spreading... now that i put it on 15 15 they are growing correctly and spreading wildly. but just getting them to pop out of the stem is what i suck at i guess.

will get pics today....

ive heard the same about cloners being on all the time, IMO ive played with timing and found the longer i ran the pump the less success i would have, i run 15/30 and i love it, you can get away with 15/45 also, just recently i left it on to see what happens and my clones got soft and soggy and started to tip, if you ran the sprayer for a short length the remaining water dripping from the stem and running down from the lid will be enough to clone along with the humidty under the lid, for some reason i feel like im suffocating my clones when leaving the pump on, but hey you got lil nubblets so they're almost there, next time play with the timer and see what goes on, you wont kill them

I run sprayer all the time with light 18/6 but also have it on a warmer, the water gets to about 80 degrees. The trick i found was warming the water.....7-10 days roots appear every time since doing that. Without warming the water I had about 50% success rate. Give that a try.

Can you tell me what type of "warmer" for warming the water to 80 degrees you use?

Thnaks in advance

you can get aquarium heaters at any pet store or walmart. combine that with an air pump and you can heat your water to 80 deg just fine. The air pump running 24/7 will keep the water circulating around your heater.

i do apply it to the stem.. i have cups mixed with rooting hormone and take my fresh cuttings and let them soak in it for 20-30 mins then put them in the cloner. idea is to let them soak a lil of the hormone up before going into the cloner and getting sprayed down.

ok i will try 15-30 my stems were also getting soft.

also will try cloning gel rather than the powder.

dip the stem directly on the powder so it covers the stem, then put in the cloner.
There is no reason to dilute the rooting hormone in water and then put the stem in...

I wouldn't suggest using cloning gel in your aerocloner. I tried it on my first batch and they took forever to root. The gel kinda formed a greyish goo cap on the tips of the cuttings.

My second batch was done w/o any rooting hormone - just cut them from the mother and placed them in the cloner. I have mine running 24hr, but am now looking to get a cycle timer of some sort to do 15on-30off.

I have a 2gal res in my cloner and am using 5ml AquaShield and 5ml Hygrozime and nothing else in the water. (I've noticed the pH likes to move up quite a bit so I check it twice daily and lower it to 5.3ish)

Yea aero isnt supposed to be on all the time. Thats when it actually works, otherwise its just like a NFT. True aeroponics is water about 2% of the time with 98% oxygen. This is why you should have a dry period so that the plants can take in a lot of oxygen. Its like a car engine, you add more air to the mixture and explosions stronger. I made a homemade cloner with a pump pvc and ez clone misters. My timer is 15 min on 45 min off, and it seems to work better than the 24 hour. Also, try not to scrape off the end of the stem, you are supposed to take off just the top layer of the skin, but y risk scraping too much off. I had no dome, no control over humidity just room temperature, i used clonex gel and straight tap water. Recently did my first batch of clones only 6 but got 100% success.

thats all too complicated guys...

follow SB's recipe for cloning

timer 1min on - 5 min off
150ml of clonex solution and about 4 gallons of water ph'd to 5.8

the secret is in the timer

this depends on your cloner size... i have i think a 34gal container with 12gal in it. this way too much water? its a 50 site with 1.5" holes
