Strain: Urban Poison Sativa Regulars. First proper grow with correct equipment.

Hi this is my first proper grow. I have done bagseed in the past with minimal poor quality equipment but now have the right stuff to get some proper grows behind me.

Not much to see yet but I want to document this from the start for my own benefit and also to get help along the way since I am inexperienced but have done many hours a day reading for about the last year before I felt ready to make the leap and buy everything.

I have:
  • Amazon 120cm x 120cm x 200cm grow tent.
  • 600w Dimmable Lumatek Ballast
  • 600w Dual Spectrum Lumatek Bulb
  • 3x 18w Cool White T8 Fixture DIY'd from an old bulky fixture.
  • 175m3/hour 100mm RVK Fan
  • 200m3/hour 100mm PHAT Carbon Filter
  • 150mm Ecotechnics Cooltube
  • Regular 100mm Single Skin Ducting
  • Biobizz Range of Nutrients; Bio Grow, Bio Bloom, Top Max
  • Biobizz All-Mix Soil
  • Essentials PH Meter with PH Calibration Solution and PH Down due to water having high PH.
  • 1" Rockwool cubes
  • Digital Min/Max temperature and hydrometer with external probe.

I have soaked the rockwool cubes in a VERY WEAK nutrient solution. 0.5ml Bio Grow in 3L of water. And popped the seeds into the rockwool cube after letting them soak for a short period of time.

Here is how my tent looks like:

EDIT: The intake vent has a piece of ducting facing down on the inside and out just to prevent as much light from escaping as possible.

Temps when light is off are averaging 20-22c and when on are averaging 26-28c.

I will be sourcing colder air through the passive inlet from under the floorboards if temps become an issue.

Any feedback, criticisms or tips are welcome!

So I have put the soaked rockwool cubes with seed implanted 5mm below surface into the tent with my fluoro light on it about 4 inches from the top of the cubes.

Temps are a constant 25c.

I was going to leave the light on 24/7, is this the right thing to do?

I know the light is not needed as such, but from what I have read, the heat is?
 
They don't need much light, they will germ without it but heat and humidity are needed though.
 
Sounds like you're all set man I'd sub if I knew how haha. I've recently invested in a similar set up but I didn't get an air cooled, had to order one due to heat issues I'll be following closely your plants should be sprouted around the same time as mine. First Sub man! Good Luck. :peace:

Yeah I thought so, but seeing as I do not have a heat mat (which I need to get asap as my snake's one has just packed up) I thought the lights would do the job and they are. I just hope it is not too hot for them, its staying at 24-25c day and night.

Did you manage to get subbed? I see you edited your post to say it's your first sub. But incase you haven't subbed, at the top of my first post you can see 'thread tools' in the blueish/greyish bar you can subscribe from there.

Once someone posts on a thread they are automatically subbed anyway.
Since Summer began all I've done with the seeds was presoak in ph'ed water with rhizotonic until they sank and planted straight into soil, the humidity here is unreal.
 
The first one has just popped through today man White Widow - Grapefruit Auto and Royal Haze to come through - I will be throwing up a journal once I get this air cooled hood and 2nd inline fan.. This will hopefully bring the temps down from low 90s to low 80's high 70's, I want it between 78 and 82 degrees F. I dunno why I use F I just do haha. These first three seeds are for just getting my system dialled in as well as my techniques :) just as well too with the heating issues. I have saved Royal Purple Kush and Arjan's Strawberry Haze for my second grow. hopefully I'll be a bit more on point come then.

Well mines will prob be tomorrow at the earliest, but I'm expecting a few days wait for them to surface. I have some auto's and some fem seeds sitting away in the cupboard for the next time, wanted to keep to all the same strain this time. My temps are doing good just now, and will only get better as August is apparently our hottest month so things should cool down soonish. Let me know when you get that journal up and I will sub yours too.

Nope dude, that's just a piece of ducting facing down inside then fed through the vent and also facing down outside to try to deflect any light that wants to escape the tent as it's in my bedroom.
 
aaah ok haha where's your intake then? :rolleyes: I'm in two minds with my 2nd set I want to go for the RPK but I also want to be able to bring my A game for them :D i'll get to that when I get through these first though. Are you planning on having the Autos in for a quick harvest ready for around the time the photoperiods will be going 12/12? I will be doing haha got Grapefruit Auto
 
The intake is just basically an upside down U bend taking air from the room. The exhaust is going up to the attic as to not heat the room too much.

I'm not gonna do the auto's for now as I believe 4 sativa's will take over my tent sooner than I think and I have 10 seeds sitting waiting to germ. Dunno the ratio of females/males I will have so that's why I have given the opportunity of life to 10 seeds.

Here is what I have to play with for the second run. I'm not sure if I will be taking clones of these plants or starting from seed, I would like to keep the opportunity to grow Durban again so may pollinate one bud site on one of the best looking females.

Nice line up man can't wait to see them growing and we aint even into veg good n proper on our first one's yet haha :eyesmoke: I have many seeds on my wishlist dude, from Sour Kush, Emdog, Purple Pinecone, Blueberry Headband and of course I'll more than likely be getting RPK again as it's my fave :bigjoint:. Damn there are many more I could add before I got started on the autos I'm gunnah put in between I'm only going to do 2 plants and SCROG them with the Autos or maybe I'll just do 4 and see where I can fit em in!!
 
so wait that last picture IS you intake then? Wait what? maybe it's because you have a cool tube you don't have heat issues because other than that it's as good as the same set up I have. My air cooled hood and second extractor fan are due to arrive next Friday :( until then the pots are in the garden or on the windowsill... at least the weather is reasonable here for now at least.

I' have so many thoughts on what to do second run, my mind changes every 2 mins. I find it hard to stick to one plan lol

If I do happen to grow them autos they will be along side some other plants as I have seen autos before and the ones I seen were amazing smoke but didn't yeild much so I am sure they will want to flower way before I want them to.

I have not read much, or any for that matter, into autos. I didn't even plan on going for sativas because of the height they can get to but I wanted to experience the high from a sativa off my first grow.

Just thinking about smoke (dont have any, not paying premium prices for low quality low density weed) is giving me the munchies, im off to the kitchen.

What are you not getting? I will explain the whole ventilation setup as simple as I can.

Carbon Filter > Extractor Fan > Ducting > Cooltube > Ducting > Attic

And down the bottom of the tent I just have a piece of ducting on it's own letting air in, but the ducting has 2 bends in it making it an upside down U shape.

I will get a better pic of both sides of the tent after I grab some food.

I got it dude just took a bit to register haha my brain was tellin me it's ok it should be like this, but the J I'd just smoked was telling me it aint right that it's not connected to anything..... :cuss:
 
I've had Double Berry and White I.C.E this week nice quality dense buds, I know the grower thankfully so I know where it came from! < That's a big thing for me haha I used to piss dealers off when I was younger asking what it was n playing 21 questions :P The best stuff of late round here was Blueberry Kush, it was tight, Pungent, touch crumble, and the smoke was dense heavy hitting, fruity, sweet, a little bitter and just a touch expansive. My Incredibowl and me were inseperable during these times :P
