Plants are fine but i stumbled upon a strangeness today that has left my brother and myself guessing. In my garage i keep extra soil, i have one bag of roots organic just open by the door and a second tupperware bin, closed, with my veg soil in it. It consists of Canna Terra pro plus, perlite, a little blood meal, and Mykos from Extreme Gardening. I used it about 20 days ago a sealed the bin and just opened it this afternoon to find a even sheet of a strange white film growing over the entire surface of the soil. could anyone shed some light on what this could be? is it the Mykos and beneficial fungus colonizing and thriving in the soil or is this something nasty and toxic and should be disposed of immediately? any help would be much appreciated.

Nothing to fret, the white fuzz is all good and it means your soil is alive and healthy as it should be.
The only thing is that I try not to start seeds directly in a such a mix and instead opt for a sterile or selectively inoculated fresh mix.
Just don't let unused soil store wet as it could go anaerobic (you'll know when/if that ever happens by the smell).

Leave the lid off of the tub. or at least partially open.

That's something you can do so long as you don't have any gnats or other flying insects. In my experience soil that is mostly dry keeps fine in tubs or 5 gallon buckets with a loose lid.
