Stupid question...can't find nozzle for drain on plastic tub

Hey all,

First post (and first grow - kind of; I'm helping a family member set up a basic hydro system). As far as the actual construction of the system, I'm basically using the design from the I Grow Chronic (Mr. Green) video. I'm almost finished setting up; I've got the cabinet airtight, the ventilation almost finished, I'll be wiring the lights tonight, and I wanted to get started on putting together the watering system. I bought two of those big concrete mixing tubs at OSH (fit perfectly :), but for the life of me I can't find the little piece for the drains; the video claims that everything is available at "your local home and garden center;" in what friggin' department are these things found? What are they used for?

All I need is a couple of connectors that are barbed on one end and threaded on the other; one that's made to be a drain would be nice, but at this point I'll make due. I have 8" clones coming to me the day I get the cab finished, so I'm getting a little perturbed at not being able to find a reasonably suitable drain piece that'll probably end up costing less than $1 when I find it...

Readily available at your local hydro shop is more like it.....if you are comfortable with plumbing and irrigation components then you can fraken-drain something from the box stores

-the barbed compression fittings are available as irrigation parts or brass "pex" pipe fittings. Either choice can be easily coupled to pvc which should be readily available to use for the other 5 parts you will need to make it work.

not at any home improvement store, trust me.....
go to a hydro store ask for a ebb & flow fitting kit. There around 5 bucks.

Go to a Lowes or Home Depot and find the aisle that has the plastic tubing, usually in big rolls that you cut to your own length, the barbed fittings will be there, you want the barbed fitting to be female then find the male fitting that is flat but the threads will go through the bottom of your tray, cut the whole the size of the threads of the male fitting, silicone around both sides if the whole first stick male in them screw on the female, let dry your done. or buy the ebb & flow fitting kit off the net its a little more expensive but then come with short and tall drain screens which you probably won't find and the hardware stores.
