Styrofoam Res?

Does anyone see any problems with using a stryofoam cooler as a reservoir? I'm unable to purchase anything at this moment (gotta love layoffs) and have a few of them on hand. My water temp is creeping up to the low 80's and right now I'm adding frozen 2liter soda bottles (filled with water) to keep the water at a more stable temp. The current reservoir is not styrofoam but I was thinking the latter would keep the water cooler for a long period of time. I was wondering if any properties of the styrofoam would "mix" or counteract my nutes. Thanks

You don't have any rubbermaid bins or anything better anywhere? Recycling bins? Nothing?
If your res temp is 80 you have other things to fix, the res isn't the problem. Pics of your setup please with description of ambient temp in the room and lights.

I'd sure hate to run a system that'll kill my plants without constantly keeping ice in it. I'd also hate to run a resevoir that one bump could crack or punch a hole in it like styrofoam.

You can get a rubbermaid bin from target or walmart for Less than 5 bucks.

I dont see why styrofoam wouldnt work, although you will need to be really carefull as not to puncture it and have a leak. Also dont know if the lid would be able to support that wait.

I would spend the extra 4 bucks and get a platic container.

Thanks guys....I do have a rubbermaid container I just had it in my mind that stryofoam would hold the cool water longer. The ambient temp of the room is average 83.3 and my res temp is average 78 degrees. I've been trying to keep it around 68-70 degrees. I also noticed on here a DIY water cooler using a small dorm refrig. I got one of those in the shed. The motor and cooling works but the inside compartment is cracked. Glad I never tossed it because according to the DIY plans I don't need the compartment just the motor and coils. With some extra time on my hands I think I'll at least give it a shot. According to the plans I got almost everything I need. Be fun to experiment.
