subcool soil questions

so i got a few questions about subcools soil mix if anyone can help.


1. can it hurt the plants if i transplante straight to the SS or should i put a layer of regular soil on top and SS on the bottom?


2. http://hightimes.com/grow/subcool/5728 this is the tek iam going to be going off of and was wanting to know how many gallons do you get from this?

you want to use regular potting soil for the second half the of the pot. Put super soil to fill half the pot and regular potting soil on top. Plant in the regular potting soil, let the roots grow into the super soil.

The recipe will make about 40-50 gallons of soil
