Hey folks! This is going to be my first run with Subcool super-soil recipe. Im still a newbie in the game , and only have a few indoor soil grows under my belt. My previous grows have all been somewhat succseful, Until later into flower when everything starts going south with deficientcy's left and right! last grow I had big beautiful plants thriving through Veg and into early flower. When late flower hits i start seeing a cal-mag issue that I think errupts into multi- nute lock out (brown and yellowing with dead spots on leaves everywhere!) that i cant get rite! Both of my last runs were with ffof/perlite mix in 5 gallon smartpots, running general organics GO line with some bud candy and some organic blackstrap mollasses later in flower. Now Im thinking my Well water was to hard, and had a great deal to do with the def. Problems. I have never checked the PPM/EC of my water before this point . So i figured out it was immpossible to try treat these def. problems without knowing all my varibles i.e water quality and PPM/EC of feeding solution , This combined with my hard water was the main part of the problem( i think?) ,along with using only ffof for full term growth...Veg-flower Ok since my last grow i have bought a brand new Reverse Osmosis system and a new ppm/ec pen from blue-lab. And after doing much researching I have decided to switch mediums to SUBCOOLS SOIL recipe (Bought all ingredients and Mixed myself) After hearing about all the great feedback about it! and to use only RO water for my upcoming grow. I will be monitoring ph and ppm closely this time. My big Question for all you Very talented Organic growers that are all over these forums is, What Is the most basic, efficient way to get the most out of this Soil and my new RO water system. Basicly How should i feed my plants in this soil, and what additives do i need, and not need? Example: cal-mag, sugars.ect. .I just want to keep it basic and simple as possible. If anyone can share some knowledge on this situation Me and my plants will thank you! Also keep in mind im still a Newb. And have not worked with RO water before this point... A simple feed and water regime w/ the correct PPM/EC for feeding in soil would be super helpful!! Thanks peeps

super soil doesn't "need" anything extra that's why it's super. the basis is just add water. so additives and things aren't really necessary. some people like to use molasses or some type of sugars at the end of flower, sometimes i do sometimes i don't. as far as RO water and cal/mag, I use my water outta the tap so I can't give application rates or anything.

did you read the entire super soil thread? it's full of good info.

A little cal/mag added to the water is still a good idea. I know you got dolomite in the SS mix, or should have, but I've had some issues without using the extra cal/mag, this was Dynagro CalMag. Your call but adding a half a dose (cal mag) per watering wouldn't hurt a thing. Just watch them close though. I tried the SS mix and had some soil bugs but it was probably my fault.

its an organic mix, of course you could have some bugs, but ive never had anything more than a few gnats that were easily taken care of and it was bc of my base.
Super soil is a water only recipe, i would not add anything when watering unless youre adding sugars later in budding when theres no juice from SS left.
You want to top feed the plants with super soil between 10-20 days of budding and that should give it enough energy to finish them out properly.
ive been doing it this way for a long while and it works wonders, everytime. hope this helps.

New grower also.
When I changed to SS i figured out my well water was very high in sodium. Changed to RO and I had to add CalMag. About 200 PPM of General Organics CaMg+ is what I use. Other than that, nothing special.

Good info for sure peeps thanks, Wolf when you say Use as a top dressing 10-20 into flower?, I read for the supersoil application you just line your finishing pots with 1/3 -1/2 of supersoil then your reg. Mix up topp?

yes, you put the SS in the bottom of the pot then reg soil on top of that. a top dress at day 10-20 in flower will ensure you have enough nutes in the soil to make it to the end of flowering.

I'm trying to get some advice as well. I'll be making my first batch of ss with sunleaves Jamaican bat guano 0-10-0 . was going to add at 2.5 lbs because the recipe calls for 5 lbs at 0-5-0. Is this a correct assumption. Nerds chime in.

I just made a batch using the sunleaves Jamaican bat guano and I used 2.5lbs for a half batch. Its cooking at the moment so I can't tell you how it will perform but in this vid, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f98guT1V2h0, with Jinxproff and Mr spliff making a half batch it looks like they use 2.5lbs of the Jamaican.

so cool you started this thread I am not clear about the method for Super Soil, I am a coco hydro grower mixing its own powder nutes in a very far away country BUT I want to change to organics, plus Im a tga fan

do you veg in super soil? or do you trasplant to 50% SS for flowering? I read in some post by sub cool he vegges 3 weeks in 1 gallon pots and trasplant to 3 gallon pots the same day he induces flowering, so is the veggie period growing in SS too? is the new pot full of super soil or 50%?
