Submerse seeds in water or straight into wet paper towel??????

Having just rec ieved my first seeds im eager to get planting straight away, however sfter reading through threads (for hours n hours) im still quite confusd as to which method is best to go with?

somne people recommend submersing the seeds in water efore placing them in the wet paper towels and others advise to go straigh to the pasper towels?

any advice would be greatly appreciated coz am eager to get moving as you can expect!!!

Some truths that apply to all methods:
The type of water you use doesn't matter
Don't touch the tap root with anything
The water doesn't need nutes, hormones, vitamin or ph buffering
Soaking in water overnight makes the shell softer and supposedly speeds up germination, but it's not necessary
40 watts of fluorescent light is enough light to grow the sprout for a week or two after it sprouts

Soak the seed for 24 hrs or overnight (optional)
Place seeds 1/4 in into whatever medium or seed starter your using
Place that in a dark warm place
Sprouts in 3-10 days

If you must see the seed sprout:
Soak your seeds for 24 hours or overnight (optional)
Get a paper towel and wet enough that it's just barely not dripping
a sprayer is good for that.

Fold and roll like so


Rip the loose top and place the seed in the middle


Fold over the ripped fringes


Place in a shot glass or small cup (must fit inside completely)
And mist once more, but not too much!
(I used a clear glass for pictures; you should use a dark glass/cup)


Cover w/ clear food wrap (sandwich bag is fine)


Don't forget to label it


Place the cup in a dark warm place and check once daily. Don't handle it to death.
