Sudden Yellowing of White Widow

Guys,

Got many different strains, all in the identical organic mix, all in holes in the ground outdoors.

White widow is yellow and dropping leaves. Almost white. All other strains green and strong.

Thinking they were under watered at the bottom of the hole (nute lock) I increased water. No noticeable improvement.

Bump up th N slightly for the pale ones.

Update: After two weeks, which included suggestions of under-fertilization and underwatering, we dug up one of the plants to look at the soil underneath. Took a soil sample and mailed it off to look at any other potential signs. The hole the plant was in was wet two feet down, well out of reach of the water probe, which was only 12" long. At that time the plants had gone from yellow to pale, and bottom leaves were dropping. We replanted the plant into the hole, and stopped all watering.

Each day we looked for the plant to show signs of wilting, and watered it right after the droop started. The plant is just now turning a darker shade of green now, as nutrient uptake is back in play.

Lesson learned: Overwatering and underwatering symptoms are fairly identical, as both look like lack of N. Don't be afraid to dig one up (carefully) and look underneath. Especially when the rest of your crop is at risk. I should have an update in three weeks...stay tuned.

Why would you wait untill it starts to droop to water/feed?

Essentially with plants in a 4' hole, there exists the possibility that your plant has excessive water at the bottom. There is no way to really tell if you are watering excessively because the water probes only go about 8". We know it wasn't nutes, because I had a soil sample. It was either weather or water not draining fast enough. Solution was to only water the white widow at first sign of drooping. I mean the first sign, not when its wilted. This has worked out well. Plant is green again and there is no more lock out of the nutrients.
