Suggested Methods of a Large Harvest

Hello friends, I was hoping to get a brainstorming session going and would value the opinions of others. I have about an acre of large plants that I have to harvest in an extremely small window. My main problem is that this is a (State) legal grow and everything has to be done by the books (1099). I cannot pay people with flower, everything is on camera, tracked and traced. I don't really have the money to employee 20 people, and I am coming to harvest in Croptober, or as I like to call, Croptobergeddon. Needless to say, when everyone has bud to sell, it is close to worthless. Come November 1st, I am sure pounds will sell for $200 because there will literally be 20,000 plus on the market all at once.

Let me circle back to what I am asking. What do you think the most cost effective way to harvest a massive crop while ensuring it does not smell like hay and it can be completed in the small window allowed? Thanks for chiming in.

Take out a bank loan?
Hire employees.
Buy Machine trimmers, both wet and dry.

Good lord that's a crop! good luck man.
Hello Garden Boss, I tapped the banks as much as I could. I was going to get the Twister T2. However, after talking to the oil guys, they say the quality is not as good and it comes out darker because of the violence of the shredding and chlorophyll release.

I was thinking of just taking the major fan leaves off, and drying slowly, and packaging it with basically the sugar trim attached to the plant still.

I can't really afford to pay people since I cannot pay in nugs. The FBI took my fingerprints yesterday, so I am sure they will be watching me through binoculars the whole time.

i think he is worried about the impending mold fest . in witch case i would get a big freezer and a extract company to come out and blast in all live and fresh frozen ....

edit : those are well spaced . invest in said wet trimmers . do perpetual harvest if you can .
dry and store well below 55% RH use humidipacks from boveda or wet room to get for sale packs to 62% rh... sell in june ....
Joedank, yes, this is the good plan and what I am trying to accomplish, which is hold until next June. I don't have the ideal space for storage because I could not afford it on the original build out.

I am wondering, if I take all the majority fan leaves off, will the plant still cure well with all the sugar leaves on and unmolested. I feel like I can get the main fans off and dry the buds and get them packaged and sealed. I definitely do not think I will be able to get a decent trim.

I will have a Twister T2 there. This will be for the popcorn scraggs.

I am stressed the f out though. You would think this would be fun, but everything is so critical in this small window I can not f this up.

Yes, mold is ginormous concern. Everything is tested in 5 pound lots. If the microbial comes back bad, its worthless. I was thinking about something like this freezing idea the other day. What process are you referring to specifically?

There is a strict chain of command (traceability) on the crop. It cannot leave the facility until sold or one of the other permittable actions in the traceability system. Its like my hands are tied. Of course, if I was like one of the rich folk who are in this then this would all be a no brainer. Bus in the legions of willing bud trimmers.

Call in friends and family.
Get as many hands to help as possible. Tell them all upfront that you cant pay them or give them bud.
But once its dry you will make it right twice over.
Then look into renting a shipping container or something to trim and hang dry in.
Ive never had to work with a crop that size but it sounds like a great problem to have to me.

Nice.

Basically a semi with a 40 foot trailer that is a large freezer. I will have to look into that. So they vacuum seal it without drying and freeze it for later turning into oil or edibles?

Could you defer payment to your workers for a period of time? If the pay was good enough and guaranteed somehow many people would go for it.

A contract with a reputable company that makes concentrates or edibles is a very solid idea as had been mentioned earlier.

It sucks now but in general your problem is a good one to have.

Trim large fan leaves off, hang dry branches for 6 days, trim off nugs. I would get a roll of 10,000 feet of vacuum seal bags, a commercial grade sealer. Then start vacuum sealing. You can store in the freezer for 2 years and it will be fresh as the day you stored it. The vacuum removes air which contains moisture. This will prevent the nugs from getting mold entirely.
