Suggestions???

So I've been growing 3 plants for a bit now and pretty much have just been letting them grow wild. I'm worried the light won't be able to reach everywhere it needs to and it will affect my yield. I just switched to 12/12 7 days ago after growing them for 8 weeks from seed. So is there any kind of training I should attempt this late in the grow or should I just let it flower out as is and see what happens?

Hey bud, If you're already a week into flower, the best thing to do is tie the tops of the your girls to the side allowing the light to penetrate deeper into the canopy. Dont do much in the way of pulling leaves off..not at this point. A week before flower next time, pop off some Fan leaves that are blocking smaller growth. Any stress related pruning at this point will damage the yield. Just pull the branches to the side and be patient till next veg. Then you better learn how to prune for a yield. any questions just ask

But looking at your pic, there might be too many girls in the tent to tie down and apart.

Less is more with nutes and yields. Maximize your plants potential unless you're doing SOG

Nice plants. Pretty even canopy. I'd roll with it. There's a lot of bud sites up top. You should have some pretty pics in a few weeks. :bigjoint:

I disagree. The plant experiences a lot of growth during the stretch. I look for a window around day 12. This is the time I do my big lollipop. You'll find after a few harvests that all that larf crap at the bottom is a waste of time. I will clean from 1/3-1/2 from the bottom up. The plant now has a chance to focus its energy on the buds up top. Lollipopping also opens the plants up a lot enabling much better air circulation. Watch YouTube, everyone lollipops BUT before the end of the second week.

Thanks for the replies, they're ak48. There's only 3 plants. What happened is I thought they were autoflowers so I was waiting for them to flower on 18/6 but turns out I bought photoperiod so they just kept growing until I flipped it.
So would you guys recommend trimming most of the fan leaves right before flower next time? Or am I still able to do that? It's pretty crowded in there.

I thin my plants out up until 3rd week of flower. Not only trim fan leaf but the thin leads (off shoots, side branching) that doesnt reach the canopy as well. Don't go crazy removing fan leafs though. Id'e remove all the fan leaves and popcorn (larf) off the bottom third to bottom half of plant in a couple of stages. This will help your plants focus their energy to the canopy and allow air flow so you can avoid mold and powdery mildew. You do have a fan going in that space?? Your grow looks nice and healthy...keep us updated with pics.

There's a difference in maintenance pruning and getting a PLANT READY for flower. If you're still stressing your plant by chopping off entire lower branches...YOU ARE WRONG. That should have been done at least two weeks prior.

Have fun playing and losing percentages in your gardens. Nobody works on a race car while it's ripping down the track...IT's ready before the show

Lterally, there are hundreds of threads on what to do. Save us all some time and learn the generals and read the plethora of things you should NOT be doing and the things that APPLY to your grow situation/style.

None of us are the same. Each garden has it's own unique thumbprint. BUt I'll be honest when I say I've flowered thousands of indoor plants...the more you funk with them during bloom the more your'e hurting. I could type forever on tips and tricks, but do what we all have and read the already posted threads

Hmmm...race cars and gardens. I see the similarities ... lol not. You're too funny. One thing I will agree with " None of us are the same"

I don't think I could have managed any more weight from this recent grow. But I only do one or two at a time.20160817_224900.jpg Vroom Vroom!

Well I have read plenty of the posted threads just so you know. I've seen the different ways people train their plants with LST, scrogging and all that but I was concerned about it being too late to do anything since I didn't start from the beginning so didn't know if there was anything I could do at this stage. Just looking for suggestions, this is in the newbie forums after all.

Yes I do have 2 clip fans inside for air flow so hopefully that's enough. I might pick up another today though. As for trimming, I might do some light defoliating in the worst spots and at the bottom of the plants mixed with tying down/away branches if possible. Sound reasonable? Thanks everyone.

the big leaves on long stems are sun leaves, they're great for veg, but they aren't as efficient as the smaller "shade leaves", i pick off about 75% of those big long stemmed leaves about the 3rd week of flower when bud has set good, and they've served their purpose. i only leave ones that aren't blocking anything, the ones on the bottom of the plant, and out on the edges. you get a lot better ventilation and light penetration, and the plant hardly notices

That plant looks good. Makes me want to show off my solo 4x4 girls. I love the fact that you're focusing on the veg and not just flowering dozens at a time. More people should do the same.

Oh, and race cars and plants have a shoot load of similarities. Both use energy and both are all about the pregame. Good luck.

20% of the fan leaves can go up to week two. It is vital to remove the ones blocking flower sites. If you can, leave a few fans at the bottom of the plant and monitor those daily. If you have deficiencies or toxicities, they'll show up and let you know what not to do next time. Shock is what you don't want. Space out your pruning and don't do it all at once. Spread the pain out. And use quality nutrients that help indoor plants push through the extremes of a man made environment. You can DO IT! So far so good.

Thanks for the tips everyone, seems like everyone pretty much agrees to trim at least some leaves to open up the canapy so that's what I'll do. Just enough to give em room to breath. I'm excited to get the flowering going. Can't wait to post some pics. Oh and I'm using the general hydroponics 3 part nutes. 1000 w hps. Is 25% RH ok for where I'm at?
