Super cropping

ok so I tried to search and I came back with a lot of threads but I can’t find what I’m looking for.
Can anyone point me to a resource about super cropping? I mean like the science of what happens when you do it, just trying to understand the plant better. Thanks for any replies

No sites to point you, but basically:

The plant is manipulated and sort of broken over, if you done the research you say you have you know what I am talking about.
When this is done the plant, in responds to the damage, sends the hormones to the other buds saying I am damaged, get to work. :)
It is all a hormone thing.
I have done it to most of my grows, mainly to control height, but I end up with larger side buds.

Yeah I have read what I can find on the subject and have done it successfully but was just looking for more information on the science behind super cropping. Thank you for your information though I appreciate the reply!

i wasn't aware that there was "science" entailed...it's a way to get your canopy even, so you can get your lights as close a possible to the largest area possible. if there's more to it than that, i've never noticed it. it does open things up a little more, and some of the growth that would have spent most of it's life shaded is given a chance to grow more, but i've never noticed much difference beyond that

Essentially two things are occurring;

1) You change the apical point of growth, thus dispersing the majority of the nutrients from on main point across the now even canopy.
^EDIT: It evens the canopy, but does not change apical growth.
2) The plant sends extra hormones and nutrients to the point of "injury" to help strength that area.

If you want to go deeper than that, I suggest you grab some biology books. :)

i don't think you actually break apical dominance, you just temporarily "confuse" the plant, the meristem will continue to grow and turn towards the light. the lateral branches will start to grow upwards, but there is no collateral branching.
the plant will send extra resources to the injury to repair it, resulting in a thicker stem capable of transporting more nutrients, but i' not sure if any hormones are involved or not.
like i said...i don't think there is any "deep" science to this....it's a method of leveling your canopy....without topping or fimming, both of which DO make changes in apical dominance and trigger hormonal release
