Hi all,

I need feedback on the ingredients and the ratio of it. After doing plenty of research this is
my recipe for the super soil

- potting soil : 20kgs
- coco coir : 20 kgs
- perlite : 2 kgs
- vermicompost: 5 kgs
- chicken manure: 500 gms
- bone meal: 500 gms
- rock phosphate: 1 cup
- oyster shell : 1 cup
- kelp meal : 1 cup
- alfalfa meal : 1 cup
- epsom salts : 3 tablespoon
- dolomite lime : 1/4 cup
- neem : 1 cup
- mycorhhizae : 1/2 cup
- humic acid : 1/2 tablespoon

My super soil has been cooking for 23 days now.
My observation:
1.the smell of bone meal or chicken manure is still strong and I can still see bits of it still unbroken.

2. am not even sure if its really cooking because I dont see white fungus on it (which is a sign of micro biology taking place). However, I had moisted it with ACT before I put it in the container.

3. I didnt mix perlite, I have read since its in organice it should be not be in the mix. Due to this , is my super soil not cooking as I dont have any aeration material in my composition and my soil has become an aerobic therefore stopping the cooking process?

Any answers will be appreciated,
Regards

1. Many organica take 3-6 months to break down, they slowly release their nutrients.

2.Fungus is an indicator but microbes are tiny and you probably have lots of them reproducing if you have air, nutrients and moisture. My bins don’t grow mycelium on top but the lids are loose and the top of the soil dries out a bit.

3. Oxygen is important, and perlite helps with that. Your coir and peat moss in the potting soil will help add air and keep the soil aerobic. Also remember to keep the soil warm, in the sun, in a black container etc.

this here man make sure your turning your soil i like to do it once a week while its cooking (ihate that term) also warmth is key if i have to make a batch during winter i make it in those big totes meant for storage and i put a seedling heating mat on the bottom of it on a timer 2hours on 10 off and repeat (those heat mats have to be regulated with a timer or they will make your soil too hot
