I think the movie is bad for medical marijuana. It shows someone who does not seem to need a MM card at all pretty much abusing it. He also says it at one point of the film how easy it was for him to get a card. Everyone who seems to want to smoke pot in California seems to have one. I think Joe Rogan his friend Eddy Bravo, who is a martial artist and Nick Diaz, who has fought in the UFC have them. I'm not completely sure if they do but I'm pretty certain. People like these advertising that they have these cards and seem to have very little wrong with them is good ammo for anti-pot debaters.

Anyway, I thought the movie itself was pretty good. Some funny moments etc.

Nick is a pro fighter, Eddie is a trainer. These guys have chronic pain. Is that not enough of a reason to use it? Should the use Vicodin instead? Joe is a 40 year old man who's been travelling(doing over 100 comedy shows, as well as UFC broadcasts annually), and training (brown belt in ju-jitsu). Im sure he has a lot of bumps and bruises acquired over the years. Doug benson...I don't know, and they really didn't hit any specifics, other than his joke about "back pain". But who knows. Doug could
be depressed. That's the one thing about medicinal cannabis. Some people use it just to remain sane, and other use it for terminal illness. Some could say the later is more beneficial, but if smoking a bowl keeps you from blowing your wad and getting through the day who are we to say you aren't using it medicinally?

Maybe they do get some medical benefit from smoking but I don't think it is essential for these people to have a normal day. It's not their last hope, where as for some people it is. There are plenty of other athletes out there that would be in a lot more pain from their sport but wouldn't use their injury as an excuse to smoke pot. I saw in another documentary where a DEA agent said that in California the people going into the dispensaries do not meet the standard of those that need MM. If you saw Joe, Eddy and Nick walking out of the gym and into the dispensary you'd wonder how they got their card. I'm not saying there's nothing wrong with them but they don't look like they are in great need of medicine. If there was some other, no where near as fun, way of getting rid of their problem I'm pretty sure they wouldn't avail of it.

Im not saying that it doesn't look like they're taking advantage of the system, but you'd be surprised at how many pro athletes use marijuana.

medical marijuana replaces ANY medication. if i get migraines i can get a script. if you saw me walking down the street would you know i had a migraine? this is not my medical reason but just an example.

"......or any other illness for which marijuana provides relief."

I found this on an MMA forum when I was looking it up. It is in relation to some trouble Nick Diaz got in with the CSAC regarding him failing a drug test for weed on more than 1 occasion. His fight with Gomi was ruled a no contest after Nick beat him but failed the test for weed. That is one of the most ridicules things I've ever heard. I think Wanderlei Silva failed a test for roids but didn't get a win ruled a no contest ( Not 100% sure but I think I remember hearing something like that, maybe a different fighter), but Nick does for weed.

Anyway this is what I read from someone who seems to know a bit about MMA (remember this is from an MMA fan, who I don't even think smokes weed, so you may not agree with some of the thinks he says about MM):

"He has a card.....but apparently (from my friend who lived in Cali) a monkey could get a card there. Some lady got one because she needed it for a painkiller because her highheel shoes hurt her feet.

The first time he got busted he said that it's only for recreational use. Now it's not?

He lives in Stockton Cali.....a country that's not legalized for Medical marijuana -"

I think there are quite a few people who take advantage of the situation. Not saying they don't gain some medical benefit from it but if it was some horrible medicine I don't think they'd avail of it.
