Superthrive..Yes or NO??

So i have heard some mixed opinions on superthrive. I went out today and bought some superthrive and added 1 1/2 teaspoons into my 6 gallon res today. Im just curious what people think about superthrive and if it is good or bad. I have no problem paying 12 bucks for it but can people tell me some advantages that it does for the plants or any disadvantages you know that happen from using this. Also when should it be used? My plants are about 8 inches tall and roots are in the res. I know it is to help plants that you are transplanting or small cutting to help root. However my plants have nice roots and are healthy what will it do for them since they already have roots established?? Any input on superthrive would be appreciated also here is the link to my grow journal if you want to stop by and give advice i would appreciate it since this is my first hydro grow. https://www.rollitup.org/grow-journals/315178-big-buddah-blue-chesse-first.html

i grow in soil and use liquid superthrive (1 drop per gallon of water) from week 2 or 3 on until i flush at the end. i got the idea from soma's grow book. he starts using it (or something like it) fairly early. i'll mist my little plants with that mixture as well.

Use very little.

1 Drop per gallon, adding too much may cause nute lockup, ph problems, and leaf/plant mutation.

Other than that, I use it when im in veg with my buckets.. Works great.

My plants always seem much more bushier, bigger branches, and shorter, more stout when i use ST.

Roots get much bigger too.

Oh yea, , do not use ST when your into flowering.

It will inhibit proper bud growth.

Other than that, Good stuff!!

i just did a couple of google searches for superthrive and bud/flowering and founds lots of posts on various forums and from what i gather most people agree with closetgrower that it works great in veg just use it sparingly and stop it sometime early in flowering (which i'll do this current grow!) i am a bit curious why it would inhibit bud growth. i'm also curious if soil growers use it differently than hydro growers.

I'm curious as well as I have also read mixed reviews by some saying that you can't burn or harm your plants with this but I think that it can indeed happen as it did with my babies. Also, I too am curious as to why it should not be used during flowering?

One drop per gallon? I thought it was a 1/4 teaspoon. OOPS!

you should have all the roots you need by the time you start flowering and use all the energy for bud production not root production.

I liked this reply.. very informative and just an overall good post bro. props to ya. And thank you for explaining some of the benefits that users of Superthrive can possibly expect when using the product.

I too never really knew exactly what Superthrive did.. I had an idea of what it did for the plants.. but not what I know now.

And I owe it all to 'ClosetGrowth'!! Thanks for putting up a good and informative post bro!

Peace.

OK woke up this morning and my roots are super brown. Im really hoping it is the superthrive that tinted my roots this color and not root rot. Anyone else use superthrive and know from experience that the superthrive makes your roots brown??

superthrive shouldn't make your roots brown... that sounds more like root rot, or light getting to the roots causing them to die back. sorry man if it is root rot, you can use a mixture of h2o2 and h20 (hydrogen peroxide and water) to help remedy this. im not sure what the ratio is, but im sure you can search for it.

So if light gets in my res and hits my roots it will casue them to die back?? Casue my res temps are perfect and i dont see how i could get root rot, there is also no slimyness on the res walls and the roots are not really slimy just a brown color and it does almost look like there dying back. Fuck i have looked but i guess not hard enough. Will even the smallest light leak casue the roots on all 4 of my plants to die back??

i would think that you would need a significant light leak to cause all four plants to have f'd up roots, the lower part of the roots look better than the upper part... i am at a loss, sorry. good luck.

Ya its werid the lower part of the roots are whiter i have no idea either what the fuck this is. Somone please help lol. Mabye it is just from the nutes and im overreacting but i need someone to know that for sure and tell me that

it's algae and it's a mofo, dump your res, clean everything with a bleach solution, rinse the roots in cool tap water(the chlorine will help) give the roots a bath in peroxide and water( 1tsp to a quart) it should bubble and help kill some of it. instead of letting your water sit out for 24 hours use straight ph'd tap water in your res for a week or so the chlorine will not harm your plant more than the algae will. brown slime sucks.

See thats the thing im starting to think its not algae or root rot im starting to think it is just the nutrients casue the res is no slimey at all and the roots are not slimey there just a brown color. Also i just changed my res 2 days ago and i used bleach to clean it and used phed water. I am thinking and hoping its just from the nutes and i only say this becasue there is no slime at all. Does this make sense??

Yes, and nutes will change the color of your roots. in the center of that pick it is very dark brown. older roots can be brown and a plant still be healthy, you said the new growth was white so you may be ok, keep a close eye on it. I am starting over from brown slime , jacked me bad. however in ealry stages if there is any funk in there ,tap water will knock it out. Are you using H2o2 in your res at all?
