Switching a 12/12 2week old plant to 16/8

Okay I just sexed my 2 plants and both were male. I had some back ups growing in the same grow area under 12/12 from seed alongside those two males. These 3 plants have not show obvious signs of sex. now what i want to do is switch them back to a 16/8 light schedule to allow them to get bigger before they produce flowers, but would it be more advisable to just leave them on a 12/12 light schedule due to stress etc?
